Are you looking for a Fred Hoffman? Otherwise, why would Fred Hofman spell his name with two F's?

I noticed the same, but after closer inspection, I convinced myself that the additional f might be a crease in the paper.

Fantastic image. Please let me know how you were able to capture this. Thanks!!

In my research, I found references to spelling his name with one f and two fs, provided it is the Fred Hoffman that was born in 1894 and died in 1964 and played for the Yankees and Red Sox from 1919-1928.

My question is, is this autograph authentic?

Thanks again for your help!!

Thanks for pulling out your examplars. I'd be interested in opinions from this board as to the authenticity of the autograph I posted, relative to this examplars.

Thanks again, Bob.

I have no opinion on whether it is the same person as the one who played for the Yankees.

As to how I changed it: I copied the image as a jpeg. Put it in Adobe Photoshop then using the Enhance tab I adjusted the lighting and contrast to make the signature more visible. After saving it I used Ulead photo express paint function to circle the 'f'.
