1956 Yankee World Series Press Pin

Posted By: mike rothstein
I finally picked this up to accompany my '56 Dodger pin.

The pin was manufactured by Balfour and there are fakes out there - this is a screw pin back while the fakes have a stick pin and the stars in the band of the hat tend to fill the area completely.

The companion is - of course - the '56 Dodger tie pin (manufacturer: Dieges & Clust) which due to the design was not very popular - it's said to be more rare and at one time was in high demand.

I also have the '55 WS pair which is by far my favorite since I was a Dodger fan growing up in NYC.

I've not decided - yet - how to display them.

Posted By: Mark
Where do you buy those little boxes? I have needed these Pin Display Boxes for some time, but have never known who sells them. Does anybody have any leads? The dealers always seem to have them...

Posted By: Rob D.
A way that I've displayed press pins that works very well (at least in my opinion) is to buy the small cubes that are designed to display golf balls (just like the bigger ones that display baseballs).

Then cut a simple piece of cardboard into a small square that will rest at an angle, corners to corners, inside the cube. Cover the cardboard with whatever color felt (or any material, really) you want, and then stick the pin through the center of the cardboard. Lay the cardboard at an angle inside one half of the cube, and put the cube together. The pin displays at an angle that's easy to see, and these cubes are meant to be stacked, so the displays you can make are pretty impressive. Plus the cubes are pretty cheap and super durable.

Posted By: mike rothstein
Thanx guys.

On the display, I like the idea of cubes.

I got one of the pins in this insect specimen box and I placed the four pins together just for now.

I'm not a press pin collector - I only wanted the ones from the two WS years - tho I do have a few others. Unfortunately, these can get expensive - the early years especially.

mike
