Press or wire? Any rare at all?

Nice photo, some call it a press photo, some call it a news photo.

It is not a wire photo.

Most original photos are inherently rare, does that equate to value? It depends who it shows and who likes it.

Piggy backing on last comment, I don't see any reason this would be particularly valuable, even if rare. Might be a $25 photo in an auction? Others could have different views.

I'd say $25 is about right. It's a World Series photo but Gus Mancuso and Earl Whitehill aren't big names.

As an aside, what's interesting to me is that the description says that the Whitehill, the pitcher, is out sliding into home. But according to Baseball Reference, Whitehall didn't get on base in Game 3 of the 1933 WS.

I'm not sure how he was out at home if he didn't get on base.

It appears he did and the double play that ended the inning was probably getting him at the plate.

Well that explains it. He got to 1B on a fielders choice but that didn't credit him with the hit. Thanks.

Earl is super underrated and should be more known. This guy talked back to cobb, k'd ruth many times, but also at yankee stadium in his first start ever, took a no hitter into the 9th vs ruth/gherig at yankee stadium 5/30/34, had the world series shutout win in front of the President, beat the 17 yr old phenom 1-0 at tour of Japan, married the sun maid raisin girl, started a brawl with Ben chapman, knocked gherig unconscious during the streak, quite a list of career events.
