Let the comments concerning PSA closing as a non-essential business commence! :)

So, how many of you are waiting on PSA submissions?

back to the old days no more plastic! We still have internet service, net 54 and e bay for now...wishing everyone to be safe, we will get through this and hopefully become wiser...America needs to be a self sufficient country and not depend on China for vital supplies.

bnorth 03-18-2020 07:38 AM

We all need to get our cards together and make as many submissions as possible ASAP.:D

PSA is closed... How will we tell the difference?

PowderedH2O 03-18-2020 08:18 AM

Ironically, less than an hour before I received that email yesterday I received an email asking me to join the PSA Collector's Club for all of the great benefits. Nope.

bnorth 03-18-2020 08:45 AM

Just got this from SGC.

SGC CONTINUES TO GRADE CARDS AND SHIP ORDERS

We're happy to say that, as of 3/18/20, SGC is operating at full capacity with no changes to grading services whatsoever. We are taking the current situation very seriously and our team has taken the proper precautions at our office to mitigate risk.

We are advising all to continue submitting orders as usual and we're looking to remain fully operational for as long as possible. In the event that this has to change, we have contingency plans in place to continue processing and shipping orders through this difficult time.

We thank you for your continued support and hope to see your cards soon.

Take Care,
The SGC Team

I haven't purchased on ebay in my last 10 transactions. Net54 has had plenty to keep me interested.

Unfortunately, the prices realized don't agree with that statement.

All the way down. Maybe this will help them from circling the bowl, and will pick up market share

rdwyer 03-18-2020 09:20 AM

What rotten luck! I sent a 5-day turnaround 2 days ago. PSA received it yesterday at 11am.

I think they will retain that position of circling the bowl for many more years just like they have been for a very long time.

SGC is my go to grading company but they do just enough to get by. Still waiting for Monday.;):)

Support SGC, we need them more than ever even if the virus scare gets resolved promptly. Be Safe.

What rotten luck!!! 5-Day turnaround! NOT!!!

rdwyer 03-18-2020 05:41 PM

Yesterday Orange County officials told all businesses to close. (PSA Territory). Today, they clairified that all businesses could stay open. SO REOPEN PSA!!!

Tyruscobb 03-18-2020 06:07 PM

I hope card grading continues during these times.

One could argue your “rotten luck” isn’t as bad as others’ “rotten luck” right now.

Brian Van Horn 03-18-2020 08:41 PM

They're open again according to their e-mail.

lowpopper 03-18-2020 09:35 PM

We could get grades before the weekend.

Who’s taking the UNDER for this Friday?

Don’t act like it ain’t POPsicle.

Touche.....let's keep things in perspective people.

Brian Van Horn 03-19-2020 08:38 PM

Well, this should shut down PSA again. No e-mail yet from PSA:

Exhibitman 03-19-2020 11:25 PM

So we will be deprived of the pipeline of altered cards in PSA high grade holders? Say it aint so, Joe O.

rdwyer 03-20-2020 02:10 PM

PSA is closed again! I had sent in a 5 day turnaround and got this on day 3:

"Unfortunately, due to the nature of your item, it is not an item that can be processed through the super express 5 business day turn around service."

This was 2 days ago! I've been trying to get them to explain why, and if they couldn't, send the autos back!!! Now I have to wait until they reopen!!!

It isn't always about the prices realized.

Besides, SGC is gaining ground with many collectors and hopefully they will not screw the pooch and know how to capitalize on this turnabout.

True.....but it's an absolute huge part. That's like saying "location doesn't matter"....then wonder why your business shuts down because you went for the cheapest rent with no foot traffic. For all their faults, PSA gets my business. That is who the public bids on.

PSA closes comments

Since it's turned into PSA vs. SGC all over again, I'll cast my vote for SGC all the way. I am a collector so I like cards that are graded correctly. SGC is much, much more consistent and accurate than PSA and doesn't have that teeny foundational issue of, um, corruption at it's core. I'll stick with the grader that actually gets the grades right. Trent King

PS- please save your card images of "the exception rather than the rule" variety. I never said SGC was perfect, just the most consistent.

Just like early 1950’s kids voting (Topps v. Bowman) with their nickels at drug stores, let’s see how 2020 adults vote with their raw card submissions. Only time will tell whether any closures and lawsuits swing the pendulum. Interesting time for card collectors and graders.
