Hello, first post!
Hello everyone. Glad I found this forum. I got back into collecting about a year ago after a 20ish year hiatus. I was collecting current players & some junk wax (my era) but quickly became bored with it and put the hobby down again.
However I've recently gotten into vintage and I can't even describe how much I'm enjoying it! I'm working on completing the Providence Grays T206 set. I then plan to move on to the Red Sox T206 set. Also have some 50s Ted Williams en route. I'm trying to come up with some other ideas for sets to collect, maybe a rookie hall of fame set or something. Excited to be here! |
Welcome aboard, Mitch!!

Welcome Mitch,
I just joined too and was also going through how to focus my collection. I landed on going for t206 portraits for now, as most of my HOF t206s are portraits already. After scouring these boards and other sites/interviews, some people collect x, sell, then move on to something different. So many ways to go about it which I guess is half the fun. |
Welcome to the fray Mitch!

Welcome - enjoy - great people here with LOTS of knowledge

Welcome back for round two.
Related to collect what sets depends on your player or player you have interest in the 1916 M101-4 and M101-5 set is great for having many HOF’rs and is kind of close to a transaction to the dead all era and live ball era players. It also has many great photo’s of these players and as back variations |

Two things inspired me: 1) I watched the documentary on baseball by Ken Burns again and really enjoyed reviewing the history of early baseball and the Boston teams, as well as the Royal Rooters. I collect those early World Series champions from any set that I can find a card, particularly focusing on the M101's. 2) Also, looking at the McGreevey photo collection donated to the Boston Library (posted on FLICKR) got me interested in many of the early players. More than anything, have fun with what you are collecting. Some of us enjoy reading the SABR biographies of each player we buy a card of. |
Welcome Mitch!

Welcome!

Welcome to the board.
And congratulations on getting enough nerve together to make that first post. It's a two-step process. I like the start you're making on the white border T206's... nibbles, small bites. |
welcome!
