Assistance Needed On Who's Da Bum color image

Thanks guys, I am looking for some help regarding this copy of a newspaper page I just received which is a picture of the famous "Bum" for the Brooklyn Dodgers. I can tell it came from a periodical because you can see articles on the back of the page. I am just trying to figure out where it might have come from because I haven't seen color images of that. The "Who's A Bum" heading was added to the picture, but it seems it was cut out maybe out of the heading of the article to make for a better presentation. This was a framed piece, but the original owner took it out of the frame to mail it to me. Thanks for any information that you might be able to pass on so I might be able to determine the value of this piece.

Can you show a better/closer shot of the signature at the lower right of the piece? My first reaction is that it is not necessarily baseball related. Having no specific knowledge of the piece though, I could certainly be wrong. Knowing who the artist is could help track down its origin.

It does pertain to the Brooklyn Dodgers, and the "Who's a Bum" proclamation was the bold headline. This is the famous image that appeared in NY papers the morning after they won it in 1955.

But I too, have never seen this color vvariation. It's typically been in black and white, so am eager to hear where this version might have appeared.

Neat item!

I'm not sure about that particular piece, but the artwork made up the entire front cover of the 05-Oct-1955 New York Daily News.

This particular drawing was done by Leo O'Mealia and my hunch is that it is not so much based on a specific person as on the Brooklyn Bum character first drawn by cartoonist Willard Mullin.

Well, as I alluded, I don't know what I'm talking about on this one :o Thanks guys for setting me straight :D

Dukeman, show the back side of the page -- the articles printed there could very well nail down the source.

Here's a similar color piece that sold in August of last year. Different placement of the headline, and looks like this one was made into a plaque(?), but coloration is the same:

We have one!

We picked up this color print mounted as a plaque on EBay. The letters are on the bottom, and there is a faded area on the back of the plaque that looks like it had a certificate of authenticity at one time. Would love to have more information on this, if anyone out knows more about it!
