T206 Buck Herzog Question
 

Posted By: <b>Scott L</b><p>I won this card tonight. I scan ebay everday for T206's and I'm always intrigued when I see a card that I feel like I've never seen before. I'm not saying this card never comes up but I just seem to recall always seeing the Boston version.<br /><br />I guess my question is am I just imagining this or is this a card that you just don't see as often as others. And the slab has nothing to do with that opinion.<br /><br />Next, I think what you paid for it is ok if you're wanting slabbed cards.<br /><br />And to actually answer your question, which wasn't about authenticity or specifically about price, YES, I think this Herzog card isn't encountered as often as some of the other white border cigarette cards. <br /><br />Herzog played baseball at the University of Maryland in 1904. He managed a semi-pro team in Ridley, MD, in 1906. In 1907 he played for York and Reading in the Tri-State League, the Giants bought his contract from Reading. Herzog played for Mr. McGraw on 3 different occasions. He hit .400 (where's Ted Z and his Mr. October stuff, we'll see if he finds this here!!!) in the great 1912 World Series. He managed the Reds, 1914-1916. After baseball he worked as the general athletic passenger agent for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad.<br /><br />That's a good card to have. <br /><br /><br />And up there would be a great time for tiny urls...
