Always willing to provide a base level so others can feel better about their cards.

Nice! Looks like someone had it in their wallet for the past 100+ years.

The BSF has forever altered E98 collecting forever. There are now more high grade e98's than not...and that's really weird for a "rare" issue this old.

I put this run together long before the find...ironic that very few jennings were in the find...let alone in colors other than red.

Always a favorite scan of mine...Brown angled to conceal that he isn't just missing fingers, and Joe sandwiched to conceal he has been Tinkered with.

E vs T

Why is the 98 set considered a E (set) vs a T (tobacco) issue? Seems like there is more evidence that they were distributed with Old Put Cigars than other products. Thoughts?

Burdick called it a caramel card...period! Burdick was right about everything and nothing he said/did can be questioned/changed!!!!!!(See t213-I threads!)

E vs T

Cool article! So what is the evedance that they are an E card. The only thing that I have seen is that they were used for tobacco advertising.

As is stated in the article...it seems e98 anonymous cards were used by many as a give away...the fact that they look like other caramel issues...like e93/e94...is likely why they were/are classifies as caramel cards.

The fact that few exist with a stamp for old put cigars just shows that some cigar store/manufacturer put their stamp on these anonymous giveaway cards as advertisement for their business.

Just noticed an email in my spam from a member asking me if I thought Old Put added value...if I remember it seemed like Tim Kindler and a few others knew a lot about them...I couldn't remember if I had seen more than one of any player...here is a Tinker I used to have...still have the Vaughn...Jerry

Always liked the looks of those. Whats the going rate for a low grade common
card in that set? Thanks.
