Nice cards Jim! That was a lot of money spent for the Ruth in 1949 !!! Tell us about your experience with CSG grading. Long wait time, worth the money, fair grades, would you use them again, ect... Lou |

Hi Lou,
Glad you liked the Ruth item and my cards!!! CSG - very fair grades, some stuff a 1/2 point lower than I thought, others 1/2 point higher - but all in all - very consistent and right around where I would have graded them. No surprises. 45 day service was done in half that!!!! - No complaints - I would definitely use them again. The slabs look great for vintage stuff too with the black flips. They slabbed a bunch of 1910 W-UNC cards that SGC will not do anymore. Here's a few....... |
They look great!
They look great Jim! Well Done!!!

An SCP win from last night. Loved this card once I saw the one Leon posted a while back. Initially, I didn't realize how tough they were. SGC has only graded 1, at least I could only find one. Maybe I'm missing others. Not sure how many PSA has graded since I haven't had much luck finding it in PSA's pop report. But I image not many have been graded.

Nice pick up Dean, had that one on my watchlist, very nice Hornsby card.

Love that Hornsby PC!!
Can't believe I was able upgrade the most important card in the D381 Fleischmann set! It finally arrived safely today! It was the biggest thrill to land my grade 1 copy 10 years ago, and maybe upgrading isn't quite on the same level but it's close! I'm thrilled!! |

Thanks to Luke L., I have added this tough, blank-backed 1934 Annis Furs card of Fred "Firpo" Marberry to my collection of cards of all the players on the 1924 Senators World Series Championship Team. Marberry led MLB in saves in 1924 and saved 2 of the Senators' 4 wins in the 1924 W.S. The first paragraph of SABR's bio of Marberry reads as follows:
"Fred Marberry, one of the best pitchers in baseball for a decade, was the first great hurler to be used primarily as a relief pitcher. He played a large role in Washington’s only World Series triumph, and set many records for relievers that would not be bested for many years. Almost forgotten today, he has been denied larger fame by splitting his career between starting and relieving —had he done one or the other, he might be in baseball’s Hall of Fame today." Here's the link to this interesting bio, in case anyone cares to read it: https://sabr.org/bioproj/person/firpo-marberry/ |

Thanks Dean! Yes, most P42's appear faded or lightly printed. I was happy to win this one, as it's one of the darker printed examples.
Hope all is well, MS |
