Interesting Photo Album that just sold on Ebay

Looking at their feedback they do not bid on anything baseball related, but they do bid on a lot of historical items and photo albums.

This was one of those items that as soon as I saw it I knew it was going to go out of my league if certain other ebayers noticed it and I know at least one of the underbidders here was one I was fearing. This had no bids until about 4 or 5 this afternoon and I thought maybe I had a shot at it. For the record I did ask the seller if they would consider a BIN and they declined.

Oh yeah for those that don't know the significance of the photos they are photos of the first game that Shoeless Joe Jackson played for Savannah in the Sally League in 1909. Not sure you could identify him in any of the photos, but that guy in centerfield sure is playing shallow....

Posted By: Dan Bretta
This park was in Jacksonville. You can see in one of the photos the Jacksonville players all gathered and the caption reads something like "Raising the pennant". Jacksonville won the pennant in 1908 and this just seems to prove that this would be opening day for 1909. There are many websites that detail Joe Jackson's first game with Savannah at Jacksonville.

The seller says these photos are all postcard sized...I'm wondering if they aren't printed with a postcard back making them real photo postcards...that would tend to raise their value even more.

Posted By: Dan Bretta
You noticed it too Max? My snipe went by the wayside around 5:00 this afternoon. I difn't feel like selling anything else out of my collection in order to pay for this. Especially when it's hard to gauge an interest in soemthing like these photos if I ever wanted to resell them.
