Posted By: warshawlaw
Lot Number 52
Bidding Start 10/10/2005 - 10:00 AM
Bidding Ends In Bidding Closed
Number of Bids 26

Closing Bid $2,186.00

Lot Description

Here's a pair of seldom-encountered Babe Ruth specialty collectibles. Both of these rare items were issued only as components of an extensive non-sports production, and they're far too rare to be found in the typical dealer's stock or card-show excursion. "The Babe" himself appears in each card's movie-scene depiction. The duo includes: Early 1930's R94-1 Movie Stars & Scenes "Babe Comes Home" - 2 different cards w/Clubhouse Scene (EX, tiny back-crease at corner) and Home Scene (EX obverse, rough tear at right edge on back). The cards measure about 3" x 2-5/16" with hand-torn ends; backs are blank as issued with penned "R94" notations.

Amazing it still isn't in the Standard Catalog.

Posted By: RobertS
So, how much without the "penned 'R84' notations"...?!

These things used to go for a song back when:

Of course being uncataloged certainly helped keep the prices down on these in the past.

By the way, these also came in different colors, as evidenced by the Mastro lot:
