Just got back from the theater. My family and I were stuck in an elevator for around 30 minutes; it took the fire department to force the door open for us to get out. Then, the arms of both exits of the parking structure wouldn't open keeping us trapped for another 20 minutes. Oh, by the way, here's #17 Jerry Staley.

Phil- had that happen once, it made a bang, dropped what felt like 10 feet, then we were stuck for 90 minutes. Never get in an elevator needing to go to the bathroom.

I am a sixth-grade teacher soon to retire at the end of this school year. As we were walking down the street, my family heard someone call out my name. I turned to look and it was one of my current students who saw me passing by as she was looking out of a store window. Neither of us was anywhere close to the school where we battle, so it was both a pleasant surprise as well as a reminder that work can follow me anywhere. Happy collecting to all and keep those 53 Bowman Color cards coming! Phil aka Tere1071 |

Nellie Fox: Under the new grading standards this would probably be VG-EX. I would even consider it the same. Magnification certainly reveals dark, hidden realities. ;-)

Phil, I think I got this card from you a few years back. By the way, sorry to hear about your elevator story, I am glad it didn't keep you from posting your daily card. |
Phil- Sorry about the show, I had seen it on Broadway a few years ago and really enjoyed it, but my wife hadn't seen it and I almost grabbed tickets for the Pantages this weekend. I'll give it a pass now.

The Garagiola needs an upgrade. He's somewhat forgotten now, but I remember him broadcasting the Game of the Week. He also hosted a morning game show that I used to watch in the early 70s on NBC.

#30 Phil Cavarretta: Cub favorite, but was fired as manager when asked about his team's chances for the 1954 season Cavarretta responded that they would finish in the second division. Got to admire his candor.
