Babe Ruth pennant

I'm looking for any information on this babe Ruth pennant. The era it might be from and the approximate vale.

I’m gonna guess 1980s for the era and, unfortunately, not much value.

The league was founded in 1951 and still exists.

Babe Ruth Baseball org is the parent of Cal Ripken Baseball and Softball which roll up to it. Regional Cal Ripken leagues in each State charter baseball and/or softball teams ages 6-12 through Babe Ruth Baseball org. Not sure of value of that pennant, but the org may be interested in it as they have some memorabilia at their HQ (like All-Star lineup cards of MLB players from when they played Cal Ripken as a kid). I can put you in touch with one of their Execs if you'd like, just PM me.

I would say the value is roughly about $20 which is the current price on eBay for this exact pennant. In 4 days and 19 hours from the time of this reply I’ll have a better idea.

The seller says 60+ years old. Based on what I can see, I don’t think so. What do you say, Greg?

No where near 60 years old

Yes, Babe Ruth League,
Popular in the 50’ and 60’s.

Popular in the 1970s as well. I definitely remember the tryouts. It conflicted with American Legion Ball for me, so I never did partake.

If forced to guess, I'd say the pennant is pushing 40 years of age.

0.00% chance it is 60+ years old. Can see that it’s 80s material. You and Mark are spot on.

We have Junior and Senior Babe Ruth leagues in NJ, they used to be alternatives to American Legion baseball. But pretty much every league has gotten crushed by pay-to-play tournament travel ball (which I loathe).

I would imagine travel ball is akin to AAU basketball. Times have changed….not always for the good.

As a college recruiter, attending these events was only slightly more enjoyable than having root canal …

Still a cool little piece of memorabilia for someone especially if they played in the league
And great price for some young kid who wants to or is into Babe Ruth to put on his/her wall
