ebay memeber thevintagecardexpress2009

Hi I just want to share with all of you my experance with this ebay seller. I noticed he listed and sold some high end vintage cards so I sent him a email telling if i could come by and take a look at some of his cards. One of the cards I was really interested in was the 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth #144 PSA 7 he had. So he emailed me back his number and I gave him a call and we met today. When I got there I was shocked and was lost for words when I saw what kind of cards he had. I have been collecting vintage cards for over 25+ years and belive me before i got there i was wondering if these cards were for real or not. So when I got there he had some cards laid out on his coffe table. He had all 4 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth cards is PSA 7 also had the sports king Ruth in a PSA 7. 1951 Bowman Mantle Rookie in a PSA 8 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle in PSA 8 1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig #92 PSA 8. There were so many highend cards he had I cant list them all here. . he also had a huge box of ungraded cards. Commons and minor stars Goudeys 33and 34 T206's 51 Bowmans, 52, bowmans, Topps cards fron 52 threw 56. most of the cards i say were in poor condition to ex and a few looked near mint. I ended up buying the 33 Ruth #144 PSa 7 for $6800.00 and a few Common Goudeys. I wish I brught more money. I was like a kid in a candy store today It was awsome.

Leon,

How much do banner ads cost?

Where can I get some? I am not sure what to make of that post. It's on topic. If it's an ad it's not a very good one. I guess "congratulations" on picking up a nice Ruth card!!

rhettyeakley 10-25-2009 11:37 PM

A glowing opinion of an unknown ebay seller with what seems like an unreal inventory as your first ever post on this forum smells funny. I don't buy it.

ChiefBenderForever 10-25-2009 11:40 PM

If he had those just laying out on the coffee table I want to see what was locked up in the safe ?

Leon 10-25-2009 11:42 PM

Rhett

I have the luxury of having contact info. When someone registers and out of the 15 words they use, several are misspelled, it makes me almost take it at face value. It looks as though he spelled his name wrong too . That being said it doesn't quite pass the smell test...my guess is this will be a quick crash and burn without me having to do anything.....we'll see....

HRBAKER 10-25-2009 11:46 PM

Should spend some of his card budget on a dictionary.

vintageclassics 10-25-2009 11:48 PM

ok i might not be the best speller i am not a good typer. but my experiance was real and I just wanted to share it with all of you. I have been collection vintage cards for a long time and was just amazed on what i saw

ChiefBenderForever 10-25-2009 11:58 PM

If you are walking around with that type of cash in your pocket it doesn't matter how you spell as long as you can count your money. It just seems strange that someone would let a stranger see over 100k in cards sitting on a table in front of them. But if you got the Ruth congrats, and be careful with all that cash !

MW1 10-26-2009 12:21 AM

Not quite right

thevintagecardexpress2009 is selling several groups of fake cards on eBay. First, the flips have the wrong font styles. Second, the cards are reprints. Third, the PSA holders have been resealed. These types of cards have been seen previously on craigslist.

Could you post a scan of this card you bought, it sounds nice! If you don't have a scanner, please just post a cell phone photo.

vintageclassics 10-26-2009 12:48 AM

MW1. you are wrong Sir!!! The cards I saw sure were not fake and the cases are were not tampered with at all. That is the first thing I looked for. I know what the craigs list fakes are all about. His stuff was for real I am still in aww struck on what I saw.

vintageclassics 10-26-2009 12:55 AM

ok how do i post a pic? I tried but it says my file is to large to upload . I think I am going to go back and look threw all of his ungraded Goudeys He must of had over a 100 1933 goudey cards some were in rough shap others looked like they were in EX.

ALL CARDS ARE GURANTED 100% AUTHNTIC AND ORGINAL
The seller writes about as well, or poorly, as our new friend.

Bamacollection 10-26-2009 03:54 AM

Leon, I hope you will pass all info onto the Fed's if this is indeed a scam. It does seem like a great set up..."Hi, I'm new here. I know where you can buy EVERY card you every wanted....NOOOOO, they're REAL!!! I promise."

........Was thinking the exact same thing.

One day they will learn that they can't pull a scam on us as a collective group.

In a strange twist of fate this Net54baseball.com board member registration info became known...

"username vintage classiscs
name Edwin Arroyo

Edwin Aaroyo [edwin20099@yahoo.com]"

I don't want to give out a telephone number but it starts with 516......as ya'll can see Mr. "Aaroyo" misspelled his name....something I do all of the time with my own name......I am thinking if you can't get past your name the rest is a very uphill battle......Caveat Emptor.....

Matt 10-26-2009 09:05 AM

Leon - it was actually his brother registering for him - of course he knows how to spell his own name. Also, the brother was posting under his ID. Also it was the brother who bought the Ruth.

Substitute "penitentiary" for "candy store".

Do any of this guy's co-conspirators or employees want to post about what a great guy he is and that we need to stop this thread because it is an outrage against a swell member of our community? Since there's no money in it for anyone I'm going to guess no.

This is funny.......

Leon, that was great how you posted that picture to this thread-I laughed so hard I have a cramp in my side.Really though,maybe-just maybe-vintagecard or vintageexpresstrain or whatever HAS a Wagner in that ungraded box full of candy................................hahahahaha

This guy is on the CU boards doing the same thing. How pitiful is this? I guess it's tough to find a job so scamming is all that can be done.....at least for scammers.

showtime 10-26-2009 01:45 PM

he was trying real hard in the last couple weeks. looks like he bought 50+ different $1 auctions to rapidly build up his feedback. and previously bought (overpaid) his own sandy koufax psa 8 with another ebay id.

I think one possible solution is quite simple, Jeff: This guy needs better marketing skills. And maybe if he'd take some of the cards in question around to shows to let other collectors see them, they'd be more likely to buy or bid on them.

I want to say one word to you. Just one word. Marketing.

sbfinley 10-26-2009 03:40 PM

Noo Serusily, He has the cardz. He seem them. You guysjust need two lern to trust peple.

Edit to add a breakthrough I just discovered. It seems that posters who converse with a third grade education always have the best cards. From now on I will follow suit in hope that the luck rubs off on me.

Well, if he doesn't travel well, he, at the very least, needs better writers. Flowery descriptions of the players careers move cards like you wouldn't believe.

Also, he should learn to spell like this: L@@K!!!!
That one always grabs me.

rhettyeakley 10-26-2009 03:56 PM

If he had better item descriptions the cards would have already sold, but the buyers would have been so taken by his prose they would have sold for 3X the price by buyers in awe of his mastery of the English language.

My third grader is better at spelling and grammar than the guy who started this thread. I'd go with first grade education here.

I assure you it's not; even with all of the above, it was clear to understand his intentions in posting. We've had some posts that look like the poster vomited words.

wilkcards 11-04-2009 12:49 PM

OMG, I was just at my neighbor's house and he has a PSA 10 t206 Wagner and every card ever! I bought $5million worth, but should have brought more money.

heating up

Well, in the last day I have spoken with 2 people scammed by this guy, again. One was for 21k and was returned, the other around $375 and is still scammed. I know there is at least 1 detective that is working this case now. It seems there is a guy named Brian "Hogan" (not sure if that is correct, but close) and a guy named Raymund Rodriquez (sp?), pulling this scam together. Law enforcement is getting close......There should be quite a bit more coming out soon, about this situation. regards

Any connection? http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/clt/1550281308.html

That might be him. I am not sure but I do know he/they have been scamming/selling on craigs list. Again, there will be a lot of information about this coming in the next several days. Unfortunately it doesn't quite rise to the FBI's threshold for official involvment. It does for other law enforcement though and they have been working on it. I probably have 20 emails about this pond scum, from just the last 3 days. regards

Since joining Facebook about a year ago, I have gotten several friend requests from an Eddie Arroyo, who I had no clue who it was. Is he a person who posts on the board? His requests say he is from NYC, but that is about all the info that is made available. Looked up the name in Google, and it listed a boxer. Same guy?

In doing some google searches there were a few Eddie Arroyos, so I would be careful. This guy did register on this board with a 516 (NY) area code but I think that was a fake number. Also, that is not the known scammers name but is an alias he uses. His name is what I said a few posts ago. regards

FLATMAN 01-25-2010 07:16 AM

Edwin arroyo, raymud rodriguez, brian hogan

I know these guys are still scamming people on Craigslist. Ive been randomly posting in different areas warning people about them. They seem to now have gone small time. Making less money in the hopes of flying under the radar. People are less apt to make a big stink if the stakes aren't too high. The 3 names I know of who are conspirators in this scam are RAYMUD RODRIGUEZ, EDWIN ARROYO and BRIAN HOGAN. BRIAN HOGAN is out of S.Carolina while the other 2 are out of San Diego 3.3 miles from the Mexican boarder. They use Magic Jack phones where its easy to get an area code for a different state other than your own. They only cost about 40 bucks a year so its perfect for these guys. Its also easy to shut them down and start up a new one 5 minutes later. Id like to ask the people in here to do me a favor. Just pick a few different areas on CL and post warning about these guys. Even if your not into trying to be a hero and save the world you will at the very least be making it very hard for these guys to make money and pad their pockets. I know I have already done that. That makes me feel very good.

FLATMAN 01-25-2010 09:58 AM

Scammers

Just found more Craigslist postings by these guys. Its funny. They know that law enforcement is investigating them but they still scam. Not even smart enough to get out of their own way. I guess they have no other means to make money. Just remember these names : BRIAN HOGAN, RAYMUD RODRIGUEZ and EDWIN ARROYO. These are known and confirmed scammers. If they keep it up I will start posting their telephone numbers, addresses, date of birth and their relatives names. Trust me fellas. The scam is coming to a halt very soon from what my sources tell me.

Leon 01-25-2010 10:06 AM

Flatman

Flatman- Keep up the good work. Eventually there will be enough pressure on a local PD to get these guys. Unfortunately it doesn't rise to the level of Federal involvement but these guys need to be stopped regardless of how it happens. Please let me know what I can do. Also, if you want to post any names, addresses, phone numbers etc....it is fine by me. The one thing trolls and scammers hate is seeing their name in lights, repeatedly. Good luck and keep us informed!!

J.McMurry 01-25-2010 10:34 AM

Do you know what part of SC that Hogan operates from? Maybe I can be of some help.

teetwoohsix 01-25-2010 11:01 AM

Well,I just clicked on the Craigslist link and it has been flagged for removal. This thread should also be linked to the thread "Authenticity of These PSA Cards".
Both threads are about the same scammer/scammers.
I hope to soon read about this/these scumbags getting arrested for fraud/theft of some kind.
Regards,Clayton
