If Clemens was dirty to begin with, i.e., having an affair for 10 years, than his claim of damage to his reputation is weakened. Of course, now McNamee will be sending out subpoenas to the singer as well as Pettite, etc. etc. Smart move by McNamee's lawyers to put more pressure on Clemens. I'm sure everyone around Clemens is happy that they'll be dragged into the spotlight on this one, being forced to answer uncomfortable questions.
