Many of you know...

that Yogi and Joe Garagiola both grew up on the 5400 block of Elizabeth Ave in St. Louis. Did you also know that HOF Cardinal broadcaster Jack Buck lived on the same block in the 1950's?
The Hill Neighborhood Organization dedicated a sidewalk plaque to the three in 2003. That's the brochure below. Yogi was able to attend the festivites which included free autographs. Joe has been back many times but, could not attend. Sadly, Jack passed away the previous year. Three of his children were there and one spoke of her memories of the neighborhood. Yogi gave a very nice speech which included thanks to his sister who spearheaded the celebration, "for making this day necessary." |
