Paul, I have to post a response here - I just waded through the latest 'train wreck' thread, and my fingers are really itchy... :)

Amazing to me that the high bidders actually have 'real' feedback. Real money is going to get dished out for this. What the hell are people thinking?

wow....thanks

And I have to repeat this,,, the ball has been reported to ebay many times, from the original seller and from the current seller. Ebay has done nothing.
WHY??

HRBAKER 03-31-2013 07:19 AM

Most likely bc autographs and sports cards are such a small part of their business and such a major source of aggravation that they have decided to let it ride. Not saying it's right but in reality they don't care.

+1

Jeff - if you are right the harm that will come to our hobby will be irreparable.

Mr. Zipper 03-31-2013 07:53 AM

Assuming for one moment this could possibly be real, who in their right mind would put an ugly, meaningless sticker from Drew Max / AAU on a ball signed by Ruth, Gehrig and Cobb?

Richard, I don't disagree with you and I also don't think ebay gives a sh#t about the autograph hobby.

thetruthisoutthere 03-31-2013 12:47 PM

Ebay has removed this listing.

I have no doubt the seller and buyer (Profe920) will be contacting the original seller (turtle_t38).

This will be interesting.

I would wager huge money that the reason Drew Max's sticker is on there is because neither JSA nor PSA/DNA would put theirs on it.

This is the point I made in the bigger EMR thread that Richard started. Look at all of the politics that are bounced around here on this board when discussing autographs. Look how hard it can be for even the best professionals in the field to come together and agree on opinions (which are usually all we have to go on) and even opinions of those paid to give opinions. How hard must it be for eBay employees who don't know or care about autographs? It's a minefield. It seems to make total sense for eBay to let the headaches go away and the buyer beware. Do I like it? Nope. Does it seem a natural progression? yep.

Or Todd "Da Man" Mueller could give us a long-winded story about he's been been collecting autographs since 1872 and he acquired those autographs in person while he was visiting...................
