I cannot find the alleged mark, but do see a pinhole. I did not think pinhole cards could receive a grade higher than a 2. The majority that I own, which are in great shape other than a small pinhole, usually receive a 1.5. So, I guess a 3 is the highest a pinhole card can receive or was this a mistake?

While it has the look of a pinhole, it doesn't break thru. I would call it more like an "indentation". I got others with the "MK" mark without the mark if you want to see others.

swarmee 06-18-2021 06:02 AM

Did you try looking at them under black light? There are a couple of stray dots on the edges of the cards, one of which could be a pen point. I think if there was any recoloring of the red field at the bottom front (where the indentation is), that they would have given that an ALTERED.

Definitely looks like a pinhole. There is a matching ,ark on back and dark spots on back near bottom... I think a 3 is good!

Would have never seen the Smiley Face until you pointed it out....

I got the cards Bobby thanks but I think PSA needs to look into the holders and how they are encapsulating them. I scanned them before I tried tapping them into place and when I do they just slide in between the two layers.

This is just a few but they are all crooked in the holders.

I picked up a recently graded PSA E card that had the same issue of being crooked in the holder and wouldn't tap back into place. Left it in my car for 10 minutes to warm up, tapped it into place, then put it in the fridge for 10 minutes.
After seeing your cards it looks like PSA might have a bad batch of holders in their system. I guess for $300/card a guy can't expect much QC, sarcasm intended.

kmac32 06-19-2021 09:14 AM

PSA status of my submission. Cards sent for submission September 4, 2020. Logged in October 7, 2020 and will be shipped back June 21, 2021. In total, 10 months to get 6 prewar cards graded. A little long in submission length but there are worse things in the world.

Again,

Once you need wheelbarrows to haul the money to the bank - it's quite acceptable for all kinds of things to "slip thru the cracks".

The concept started out pretty simple -

1.) Send us your stuff
2.) Our guys will evaluate condition
3.) We will put it in a clear plastic tomb to prevent damage going forward

If you can't successfully accomplish those 3 simple objectives, after 20+ years of trying, then it's time for you to just open up a burger joint.... jeeziz

perezfan 06-19-2021 12:40 PM

Hope they re-holder all of those for free. But even if so, when the hell would you get them back? What a shame to spend that much money and wait forever, only to have them come back looking like that! Simply awful.

cubman1941 06-19-2021 03:17 PM

I had four like that but was able to tap them back into place.

The flips are also wrinkled and look like chewy bacon. You wait over a year to receive your cards back and: (1) the cards won’t stay in the designated area; and (2) the flips are wrinkled.

First world problems, but still frustrating. I feel your pain.

bobbyw8469 06-20-2021 07:27 AM

They weren't like that when I shipped them out. Maybe I didn't pack them up good enough? For that I apologize.

No they were packed fine Bobby, it has to be a flaw in the holders I've had many before that needed to be tapped into place but with these when you try
and tap them into place they slide right through on the other side when they finally do break loose and I've never had them slide between the two layers like that before.

Like Pat, mine did the same thing. The PSA Quality Control is evidently the new hires (pretty poor). These cards can be tapped into place and then they slide right out of the intended slotted area if the card/holder is in ANY position except flat.

Well, the new PSA majority owner has an account on Blowout. You could send him a link to this thread. Is he on Net54 as well? I thought he was at one time.

bobbyw8469 06-21-2021 07:31 PM

Guys...I am so sorry....I had a few T205's and mine didn't seem to do that. Is it just the tobacco cards that are an issue?

tab 06-24-2021 04:00 PM

My t206’s are all the same just like pat r’s. All loose in the holder as well. The holders are not the right ones. I compared them to other and the lines that keep the cards from moving around are too far apart. So what do we do now?

Is it just moving slightly in the holder or completely sideways like the others?

I wasn't on this sub but noticed that 2 recent t206 submissions over the last 4 months came back with a little sideways movement as well. Maybe a change in their holders?

Bad like the others. No chance they will stay in holder without moving back. Took a year and they come back like this. WOW!!

brianp-beme 06-24-2021 06:20 PM

Since these cards are 1 year old, they are probably just learning how to walk inside their new plastic coffins.

If you send them a cow, how many slabbed burgers will you get in return?

I would imagine Auth Alt on all of them but you may be able to "Relic" the hoof shavings and hide to make your money back although I wouldn't Moookie Bet on it...

Cards in hand today. Look great and no issues. Only 10 months to get back!

The cards do not appear to be correctly graded based on centering. Maybe a larger image would support this thought.

I missed this submission group’s boat. However, I did climb aboard the December 2020 pre-war and January 2021 Swinging Sixties ships. What are the overs-unders on when PSA will return these groups’ cards?

I’m thinking Oct 2021 for the December 2020 submission, and December 2021 for the January 2021 group.

At the rate they're going I would take the over on both. I would guess Feb/March 2022 for the December sub and April/May 2022 for the January sub.

It is disheartening and makes me not want to do group subs anymore. It is literally no fun waiting a year to get your cards back. And then when they finally DO come back, there are issues with the grades, cards sliding around in slabs, etc.

Bobby, I don't really blame you. I think their grading has really gone to pot not to mention quality of slabs.
