Card Collector's Bulletin, 4/1/57: Buck Barker on errors, Lionel Carter's wantlist

Here are the first 11 pages of Card Collector's Bulletin #107, dated April 1, 1957. The two-page lead article is by Buck Barker, on errors in baseball cards, by which he mostly means cards that picture the wrong player. J. R. Burdick took out a half-page ad for his book on pioneer postcards, also the subject of an item by John R. Farnell Sr. on the following page, and Lionel Carter took out a full-page ad with his wantlist and the prices he was willing to pay, mostly for cards he had but was looking to upgrade. The auction has the usual assortment of stuff, with prices realized written in pencil. A lot of 35 T207s in excellent condition went for $12.75, 36 cents a card, well above the estimate of $8.75, or 25 cents a card. T207s back then were very expensive relative to T206s, which generally went for around a nickel apiece.

I didn't scan the last seven pages of the auction, which are primarily postcards, valentines, trade cards, scrapbooks, etc., plus a bunch of British tobacco sets on the last page.

On the last pages I wonder if the handwritten prices are prices realized? It could be an early guide to auction/mail in prices, if it is.

thanks for posting...

Yes, those are prices realized, as I mentioned in response to a similar query on another thread. Each issue of CCB showed the prices realized for the previous issue's auction, and I have 10 straight issues from 1954-56, so it's possible to confirm that those prices written in pencil are the prices realized.
