Busy Night

Posted By: Lee Behrens
I spent 2 hours Saturday night bidding on over 80 auctions. I was high bidder on over 40 of them when I went to bed. By the end of Sunday night i had won 2, T206 Beckley SCD3 (wrong scan) and a T213-2 Piedmont Stamp Tinker (which I was very happy with). I know I have never bid on so many auctions on one day, bidding was obviously heavy and the prices seemed to be high.
I like selling at this time of year and this is proof why.

Happy Holidays

Lee
Posted By: Jeff S
I have noticed prices going down a little over the last couple weeks and bid counts going down as well. I assumed that as we get closer to Dec. 25 (a significant day, I am told?) getting stuff shipped on time becomes less and less likely and fewer people are the market for gifts. It would also seem that people are more financially tapped out and thus less likely to be buying for themselves. But then again, I haven't been watching T213s and am interested in what others think about this. Related: I noticed last year that the market almost immediately took a hit after the New Year...I just assumed we were already headed in that direction.

Posted By: Julie
(H0F goalie of the thirties) with coupon attached for $76.00. I cannot imagine bidding in 40 auctions in one night, even with a sniping service! I hear those stamps are great...yesterday, I put two bunches of long green onions in one see-through bag, and the checker said "mmm" when I told him to double the price.
I think merchants in general may 1) charge a bit less, or 2) be in so big a rush that they forget sales tax,or (by mistake) adjust the price--always downward.

Lee, you must sell as well as buy--what do you do? Are you careful to charge as much as you should around Christmas, New years?

Posted By: Lee Behrens
Julie, I work at a bowling center, and yes I am the Bowling Shoe Giver Outer Guy, I buy and sell mostly T206s and T202's. I always price my cards where I fell the market is at the time of listing and BIN at the point I feel is the high end for the card.

As far as the market during the Christmas holidays, I feel it is strong because many people are on vacation and have time to spend on ebay and look things over better. I also believe that this ends about the middle of January, where cards can be had for a little less price.

I believe that low end T206 commons and HOFers have gone up between 40 - 50 % in the last couple of years.

Happy Holidays

Lee
Posted By: Tom Boblitt
Piedmont Tinker........It really is a nice card. I've had 30-40 of the Piedmonts over the years (about 90% of which came from a Festberg auction) and it's definitely one of the 1-2 nicest. And, by way of brainfart, I mislabelled the card as a T213-2.....it's a T330-2 I believe. Sorry bout that. If that affects anything let me know............

Posted By: Jeff O
Julie - congrats on joining the very small and very twisted world of V252 collectors with your Chabot purchase. It's a VERY tough set with coupons - only 50 cards in it, but they are toughtoughtough! It took me over 10 years to finish the set... and I still have 17 cards without coupons.

By the way - if anyone can tell me the letter featured on the coupon for Brydge, Gottselig, or Trottier (and provide a scan), I'm ready to write an article on the set!

Jeff
http://www.seattlehockey.net
