50s 60s HOF price increases

It seems over the last year or two prices of signed cards of HOFers on 1960s and 1970s cards have doubled, tripled or more. Guys that were easy signers and $10 are often $50 or more, rookies signed are crazy but even if I am doing a run of a guy like Brooks Robinson and 60s topps card can easily run $75 on ebay? Any comments, ideas on why? I doubt we have many young people entering the hobby. We do have many more flippers but do you have any ideas??

The pandemic boosted the hobby overall. In particular there has been an influx of collectors focusing on vintage HOF cards, HOF rookies and complete Topps runs, things like that. I don't know that the two things are connected but the pandemic definitely got more people into the market as people sat home and reimmersed themselves into their hobbies. I think message board like this one and SCN have also caused a spike in interest as collectors try to keep up with the trends.

Just like in coins and stamps that are more mature hobbies, the collector searches for rarities among the vast expanse in the hobby. Even the prolific signers are hard to find on vintage cards. People were told for years NOT to have cards signed. I feel there is plenty of upside left as well. 3000 56 mantles graded and I think just 15 signed ones. Signed cards are ultra rare, and much less supply than demand. Still only about q13 signed 52 mantles as well.

That's a very good point too, I can't count how many times at shows I was told to not get a certain card signed (especially RC's) because it would "ruin the value."
