SGC Service on my Damaged Berra Rookie

Posted By: Kirk
To refresh your memory. I was on here a month ago asking if anyone has ever had a card damaged by SGC's insert/holder. My Yogi Berra rookie was being slightly gouged at the top and side, and it made me sick.. Anyway, a couple people recommended that I contact SGC about it. I wasn;t sure what this would accomplish since I'm not a current customer, and I bought the card already in the holder. Long story short, what a great experience it was.

Sean Skeffington addressed the issue head on. He said that because the card isnt rare, they'd replace it if the grade was lowered by the damage. I sent the card in and sat on the edge of my seat for several days. When Sean got back to me I was disappointed to hear that it was SGC's opinion that the card was overgraded in the 1st place, and should have receied a grade of FIVE instead of SEVEN due to centering. I got sick to my stomach.. Until Sean offered to secure me ANOTHER 7! After just about 1 week, Sean said they had a new card for me, and sent it!

Thanks SGC, and thanks net54 forum members for recommending I contact them. When my PSA subscription is up, I'm DONE with them for life. I've never experienced such professionalism at any company... SGC is head and shoulders above PSA on their standards and on their policies. They took a financial hit because they didnt want a misgraded card in their holder. PSA would NEVER do that. I can find a dozen way off center cards on ebay right now with 7NM flips... I know I'm preaching to the choir here because most of you are pre-war collectors, but I'm not.. And most of the post-war stuff out there is in PSA holders.. Given the ridiculous inconsistencies in PSA grading standards, for the sake of some level of accuracy within te hobby, that tide needs to change. Anyway, kudos to SGC for their professionalism.
