Vintage Basketball at the National reports please

Anyone at the National, please let us know what vintage basketball cards & memorabilia is for sale. Not interested in any LeBron cards or all the many different grades of Fleer Jordan rookies. Want to know about the pre-1970 stuff like Union Oil, Chamberlain programs, Mikan stuff, 1968 Topps Test set cards, Kahn cards, etc,...

Thanks !!!

Not much to report unfortunately. The few nice items were in Auction display cases. Even the normally pedestrian items were significantly overpriced. I don't know if vintage basketball is taking off or dealers are just pricing items super high just in case.

Sorta from the show. A friend got my 1971-72 VA Squires TI Dr. J signed for me today:

I'm pretty stoked.

I picked up some Fleer Globetrotter cards for my sets. I saw one dealer who had a LARGE supply of 1972 ICEE BEAR cards including probably 50 Pete Maravich cards in beautiful shape but he wanted $100 each and was not willing to budge. He kind of pressured me to make an offer so I did but I really don't know the value of these and I think my offer was "a little low" hahaha.

Here is a closer scan of the 1948 Bowman basketball "freaks" I bought for $125. #45 Bob Doll and #53 Out of Bounds. The cards are overstruck on the back with 1948 Bowman "Movie Stars" and 1949 Bowman "America Salutes The FBI", along with the normal basketball backs. I did show them to a dealer who had mostly basketball cards and he said he had seen some like these before.

Alan I found a business card from Hank Reizes mixed in with my purchases, it may have been him? His card says 99% basketball.

Thanks Larry. Yes, that him at the 99% Basketball booth. I know Hank well. Good to see him still selling at the National. Attachment 527705

I love that booth. The prices are pretty high but some great stuff. I bought my Merchante Magic Johnson cards there one year.

I have some of that printer scrap also Larry. I think there was one sheet snuck out the back door. Also, fairly positive Ted Z of course has a couple also. Here is one of mine and a grabbed the actual cards for fun…

Not deep vintage and definitely with a very modern twist. This set of 3 Flex NBA "cards" with Run TMC Hall of Famers Tim Hardaway- Mitch Richmond- Chris Mullin. Who each signed the cards at the national.

The nicest early basketball item I saw at The National was a team photo of either the Jersey Reds or Newark CO2. It was signed on the back by the team including Chuck Connors, Don Otten and HOFer Dutch Dehnert. It was completely out of my collecting focus so I passed on it at about $200.00. This dealer had some other interesting items, but not worth the price. That dealer that does almost all basketball (states he is former law enforcement) had two of those basketball shaped Holy Cross team issue items with Cousy on them. Unfortunately signed very large in the center by Cousy. One of those items I would have left alone.
