Any interest in an SGC piggyback submission? CLOSED!! Grades popped!!

I made a request with SGC after my PSA ordeal to see if I could get a little better pricing than what PSA had. They told me I could get $23 a card.....if I submitted 200 cards. Is there ANY interest in sending cards to SGC?? The turnaround would be a ton faster, although I am not sure their cards get the money PSA does.

I have about a dozen I could send, any value limit?

Their value limit is quite a bit higher than PSA's. I wanna say it is $1,499.

I almost feel like they are trolling me. Not even PSA forces me to submit 200 cards.

Tyruscobb 10-04-2022 03:48 PM

I'm about all rawed out. However, I know I have at least 7 (possible more) if the group has legs.

Phil and I can get you 10% of the way there.

LOL.....do you and Phil even like SGC??? I like the fact that they are fast. I love that. But what else do they have to offer?

BobbyStrawberry 10-04-2022 05:18 PM

I'd throw in a few if this comes together.

I send all of my pre war cards to SGC, gotta have that black apron.

JollyElm 10-04-2022 05:51 PM

Any idea how SGC handles cards that PSA deems 'miscut'? Not the MC qualifier, but returned ungraded "N8: MISCUT"? I have a few of those that came out of the pack that way, but PSA rejected them...which is weird. Would love to get them slabbed, but don't want to waste the money if SGC sees them the same way. Guess I could send pics to the guy I was talking to for awhile over there.

I like PSA and SGC. BVG is a no-go for me. Hate the thicker case, and that stupid penny sleeve in the case which always becomes wrinkled.

SGC slabs them as authentic.

bobbyw8469 10-04-2022 06:03 PM

I like them both, but I prefer PSA due to the resale value.

Thank you. I did just send pics over to them, described the issues and asked questions. SGC is usually really good about getting back to me quickly, so I'll see if a number possibly lies at the end of the grading rainbow. Damn tilted cards!!!

Vegas Cards 10-04-2022 06:29 PM

I have six 1911 Mecca Double Folders I've wanted to get slabbed for a while.

I'd include those if they'd take them. Not sure if the size works.

That's a good question....let me look and see.

PRICING FOR OVERSIZED RAW CARD GRADING, CROSSOVERS AND REVIEWS
Oversized items are larger than 3 ½ " x 5 ½ "

And I looked at the pricing. It is OUTRAGEOUS!!! $100 minimum.

Not to mention sgc doesn't slab 8x10 which is outrageously stupid.
I love sgc but I hope they can start covering the niches again like they used to. And maybe even expand into photos, they are becoming nearly as popular as cards.

The massive turnaround of standard size modern and standard vintage has made them lazy in terms of broadening horizons again. With turnaround being sometimes less than a day from the time sgc get your cards to the time they're shipped back you would think they would've already announced some changes like this.

Quick google search shows this

The T201 Mecca Double Folders series were beautifully lithographed tobacco insert card released in 1911. The artistically rendered creations total 50 cards, each measuring approximately 2-1/4" by 4-11/16"

And I see plenty on Ebay in SGC slabs. I'm going to call them tomorrow and see what they say.

The size you listed is smaller than what they said constitutes oversized. You can call to confirm, but that is what my take is on it.

1880nonsports 10-04-2022 08:20 PM

Have only a couple/three

just LMK if you are a go.....

Actually I have at least 6.....

How about correct grading!

drmondobueno 10-04-2022 11:27 PM

Timing?

Hey Bobby, any idea when you need to have this wrapped up and submitted? Need to actually go through my stuff since I have not submitted anything in about six years, no idea what I may have (!).

Worth grading, that is...

BuzzD 10-05-2022 04:30 AM

Scg

Bobby, I have 20

That is completely irrelevant. It is about the cash when you sell them and nothing else.:D

You got that right. My main appeal is the fact that you can have the cards back in approximately two weeks versus quite a long wait for PSA.

Crossover's seldom work. Not in other guy's holders.

bobbyw8469 10-05-2022 06:45 AM

Gonna get a roll call for how close I can get. 200 seems like a lot.

bobbyw8469 10-05-2022 06:45 AM

1-20 - Bobby

Casey2296 10-05-2022 07:53 AM

21-33 Phil

They would either get an "AUTHENTIC: Miscut" or "AUTHENTIC: Minimum size not met."

Maybe.,....maybe not....I have had "miscuts" get a number grade from SGC. It all depends on the eyes.

So selling raw cards at PSA graded prices on Facebook didn't work out?

Since it is all about the cash. You need to figure out what cards not to send to SGC because they do bring way less SGC graded. I recently got lucky and bought 3 rare cards really cheap because they were in SGC slabs.

fusorcruiser 10-05-2022 08:30 AM

Hi Bobby, Put me in for 20. Thank you for doing this as I've been holding some cards to submit but waiting for a good deal.

I never sold raw cards at PSA graded prices on Facebook. Maybe you have me confused with someone else?

Hey Bobby,

I think we have enough. There are several people wanting to submit 20 cards.

Tyruscobb 10-05-2022 09:14 AM

Brent: 34 - 41

drmondobueno 10-05-2022 09:20 AM

Have at least ten.

Check out nashcards.com. I just used them and it went well. You get 23/card with no minimum.

bobbyw8469 10-05-2022 10:12 AM

I saw them. I wonder why they are making me meet a minimum then??

They probably get enough cards in to meet the minimum.

1880nonsports 10-05-2022 10:30 AM

apparently

people never get bored of pounding PSA or SGC in whatever thread they are in. So tired of it. It doesn't have to be brought up in EVERY FREAKING THREAD even though the complaint or comment has NOTHING to do with the subject of the thread. You guys are amazing......

I'm sorry Henry...I like them both...for vastly different reasons.

BobbyStrawberry 10-05-2022 12:23 PM

I'm good for at least six cards if you're still counting, Bobby

I need to submit, but I'm at work. I'll confirm with you in a few hours. I think it's at least 10 cards. I'd have more, but two are exhibits, and one is T202. Those three would be oversize I believe?
