Ever seen the attached??

ANY info on who issued, how many in the set, additions to the checklist below welcomed.*

I recently picked up most of these 4" x 5" blank backed issue from another member. If something pops up that I have not seen in my 60 years of collecting I always try to pick them up.

A few photos were used in other sets. Wertz on his Exhibit card and Seminick on a Dixie Premium for instance. They seem to be numbered by team: Looks like one to possibly three per team. AL first then NL

no numbers Martin, Mantle Yankees
5 Harshman White Sox
7 Garcia Indians
8 Evers, 9 Wertz Tigers
10 Finigan, 11 Fowler
15 Ennis 16 Seminick Phillies
17 Newcombe Dodgers
20 Clemente 21 Freese Pirates
23 Aaron Braves
25 Greengrass Reds
26 Banks Cubs
27 Moon Cardinals
29 Antonelli, 30 Mays Giants
32 Kluzewski Reds though not numbered with the other Reds player
Greengrass above

There are also teams:White Sox, Indians, Tigers, Senators, Yankees, Orioles, Giants and Dodgers*

Let's see others!

To me, they look like prints on photograph paper that someone may have made at home. You could make 4 of them on a standard 8x10 print sheet.

Expected to hear from you on this..

And no, 4 can NOT fit in 8x10 if they are 4x5 each.

Sorry no help on IDing but wouldn't 4 4x5s be 8x10?

Stacked 2x2, they definitely would. Or is this a Common Core thing I'm not getting? ;-)

I hope you get them ID'd. They'd be pretty valuable if they were a rare regional photo pack.

Ben,

FOUR 4x5 prints would NOT fit an 8x10.

Pretty simple.

Please educate me on how they wouldn't. I owned a construction company for a long time and think I am pretty good at simple math. Unless you are leaving gaps between the cards they should fit perfectly in my estimation.

The 56 of Mick that was recently added to the registry is the 8x10 on thin glossy paper. It is shown in SCD, why PSA graded, as 56 NY Action Pictures. It is also not an action shot :) No mini version is cataloged to my knowledge. There are many fakes of the 8x10.

4, as FouRRR individual 4x5 prints could not magically fit into a SINGLE sheet measured 8x10.

Hint: That would be 16x20.

Now if you stack them, like Johnny astutely highlighted....
You could amass all kinds of numbers.

I would highly suggest you take 4 4x5 pieces of paper and put them beside each other like John posted. Then measure them and get back to me.:)

Hint: 4 8x10s would be 16x20

Try some math.

LOL, I give up.

Jim65 01-22-2020 12:32 PM

2 4x5 = 4x10
4 4x5 = 8x10

Au contraire, 2 - 4x5 = 8x5 and 4 - 4x5 = 16x5

Disappointed this thread has turned into a Math test!!*

Larry: is there a checklist for the 56 A.S. Photo pack? Or is it just the Yankees one Ben posted above? If so does it match up to what I listed above?*

Mark: you posted quote "have in hand def period piece" Does this mean you have one, some or all of these? If so can you add to the checklist?*

Ben: It appears the 8x10 Mantle is from a Yankee set, while what I picked up has players from multiple teams and both AL and NL*

John: You said quote:I hope you get them ID'd. They'd be pretty valuable if they were a rare regional photo pack.

As I said in my initial post if after 60 years of collecting I have not seen it before, I grab it. That to me makes it pretty valuable on it's own merits. Granted if it can be ID'ed as I've asked it would be more valuable, but still having something cool like this, NUMBERED, leads me to think there are more out there. I doubt it would be a REGIONAL photo pack as most regional's just have for the most part the home area team(s). Off the top of my head I can't think of any 50's/60's regional issues that have players from all teams in each league, though I am probably forgetting something.

I've already been contacted by a few collectors about them, especially player collectors and team collectors. At this point in my collecting life they are not something I am looking to add to my collection, so they will most likely find new homes in the near future.

*Hope someone has more info on these

Fred

Not to pile on, especially since everything seems to be deleted, but thank you for saving that since I missed the action. I had to chuckle at that one.

I understand how sometimes you get something in your head and think it is right and you are willing to fight for it, until the bulb comes on and you realize it was a brain fart.

Hi Gang:

Bringing this thread back to life and hope to avoid the"math lessen" discussion this time.

If you read the original post at the top you will read about a group of cards/photos I obtained awhile back that I had never seen before.

Recently I was lucky enough to pick up another small group that added new players to the checklist but also included some head scratchers.

Here is the original checklist with new additions added in bold

no numbers

Yankees:

Billy Martin,
Mickey Mantle

2 Yogi Berra

Red Sox
3 Ted Williams

White Sox
5 Harshman

Indians
7 Garcia

Tigers
8 Evers,
9 Wertz

A's
10 Finigan
11 Fowler

Phillies
15 Ennis
16 Seminick

Dodgers
17 Newcombe

Pirates
20 Clemente
21 Freese
21 Bobby Thomson*

Braves
23 Aaron

Reds
25 Greengrass

Cubs
26 Banks

Cardinals
27 Moon
28 Musial

Giants
29 Antonelli
30 Mays

Reds
32 Kluzewski though not numbered with the other Reds player
Greengrass above

There are also teams:White Sox, Indians, Tigers, Senators, Yankees, Orioles, Giants and Dodgers

Beside the additions of Berra, Williams, B. Thomson and Musial there are a few odd things.

*Thomson is numbered 21 as is Gene Freeze of the Pirates. Looking at the numbering of the set I have to assume he was to be #31 after Mays as that would fit in with the numbering system by team.

Other things noted is that these must have been issued in multiple years as some of the team photos have 1954 and 1955 printed on them while a few have the same photo with the year whited out as you will see in the second photo.

So, again I ask does anyone have any of these? Can you add to the checklist or know anything about who issued this set?

No Orioles or Senator players are known although the team cards are present although no team photos are known for the Red Sox, A's, Phillies, Reds, Pirates, Cardinals, Braves or Cubs

Hopefully more info is forthcoming.
