Shadowbox Displays: Opinions Welcome

I am seeking opinions. I have a question about getting things to stick in a shadowbox. I have the dog tags for my father, and two grandpas. I want to display the tags and a picture of them in uniform. I bought three small shadow boxes, although I might return the one for my father and buy a bigger size to display his insignia. I asked the framing people how to display the dog tags, and after they huddled they had two answers. I could sew them in so that they hang upright; or I could use 3M velcro tape and velcro them onto the material so that they are sideways and readable.

If anyone has created a military shadow box I'd love to see a picture. Or if you have opinions about using velcro tape, or sewing them down...

Thanks in advance.

Would you really want to stick Velcro to them?

What about a combination of stitching, and a mylar photo corner mount to support one corner at any angle you want?

Pretty sure that they're stainless steel, otherwise could be held in place magnetically?

I could see them being draped around the frame of their photographs, with the tag hanging down like it would be on a neck. Basically, the frame is the neck for the chain.

The sewing worked well for some cycling medals I framed.

I do like Johns idea, and would think that in a shadowbox you could build up the backing with a shape like a Shirt collar as a support for them to hang inside the shadowbox.

Sewing them down a bit would also help keep them from coming off if you moved the frame for some reason.

Final product created. Thank you for everyone providing their input. I went with a velcro adhesive, that's what the gallery people advised. I have adhesive remover, so if I needed to remove it later I should be able to get it off with a little elbow grease.

I had another thread running about ribbon patterns and meanings. I had two unknown ribbons from my father that I knew were associated with ROTC. They were significant of Receiving a ROTC Scholarship, and the other was for being in the national top 5-10% of Demonstrated Leadership Excellence.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...fb4c66ad9a.jpg

Nicely done!

You're love of, and pride in these special men is apparent in your execution of the displays.
