Great Songs With A Similar Theme...

In one of the various music threads, the song "Run" by Collective Soul was mentioned and it did my heart good to see how other people appreciate that cool tune, too. Love it!! It made me begin thinking about how many truly great songs are centered around the theme of running, so I compiled a list from the music on my computer. The fact it revolves around the word 'run' sorta ties it into baseball (yeah, that's a bit of a stretch), which is an added bonus (personal favorites are highlighted in blue)...

• Band On The Run - Paul McCartney and Wings
Before They Make Me Run - The Rolling Stones
• Born To Run - Bruce Springsteen
• Come Running - Van Morrison
• Fox On The Run - Sweet
• I'm Not Running Anymore - John Cougar Mellencamp
• Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me) - The Temptations
Let Him Run Wild - Beach Boys
• Long Distance Runaround - Yes
• Long May You Run - Neil Young
Long Train Runnin' - The Doobie Brothers
• My Little Runaway - Del Shannon
• No One To Run With - The Allman Brothers
Run - Snow Patrol
Run - Collective Soul
• Run For The Hills - Iron Maiden
• Run For Your Life - The Beatles
• Run Like Hell - Pink Floyd
Run Runaway - Slade
Run So Far - Eric Clapton
• Run Through The Jungle - Creedence Clearwater Revival
• Runaround - Blues Traveler
• Runaway - Jefferson Starship
• Runnin' Down A Dream - Tom Petty
• Runnin' Too Deep - Keith Richards
• Running On Empty - Jackson Browne
• Running On Ice - Billy Joel
Running To Stand Still - U2
• Running With The Devil - Van Halen
• Silent Running - Mike and the Mechanics
• Take It On The Run - REO Speedwagon
• The Long Run - The Eagles
• The Pascagoula Run - Jimmy Buffett
When The World Is Running Down, You Make The Best Of What's Still Around - The Police
• You Better Run - The Rascals (or the Pat Benatar cover for partial credit)
You Keep Runnin' Away - 38 Special

Got a group of great songs that is centered around a specific word/theme/etc.?? Long or short, please post it (or let the thread go nowhere and die)!!

This should definitely go without saying, but for the love of god, DO NOT compile a list of "Love"-based songs!!!!!!!!

At the risk of turning this thread in an untoward direction I give you (classic rock division):

Relax - Frankie Goes to Hollywood
Pump It Up - Elvis Costello
Turning Japanese - The Vapors
Rosie - Jackson Browne
The Stroke - Billy Squire
Dancing With Myself - Billy Joel
Pictures of Lilly - The Who
My Dingaling - Chuck Berry
Darling Nikki - Prince
Touch Myself - Divinyls
She Bop - Cyndi Lauper

While the writers of the above songs tended to mask the subject with inventive wordplay in most cases, the current crop of pop stars tackle the subject in a much more direct fashion.

I spend several hours yesterday, hoping the Sunbelt Baseball League playoff game would be played---only to be postponed 'til this afternoon @ 5, due to a huge thunderstorm...

if you like thunder and lightning, a Ballpark is the place to be.

Meanwhile, the PA guy decided to play every song with 'rain' in it that I've ever heard.

These are the ones I remember being played:

““Have You Ever Seen The Rain”—Creedence Clearwater Revival
““Purple Rain”—Prince
“Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head”—BJ Thomas
““Here Comes the Rain Again”—Eurythmics
““Fire and Rain”—James Taylor
“Who’ll Stop the Rain”—Creedence Clearwater Revival
“It Never Rains in Southern California”—Hammond
“Rainy Night in Georgia”—Brook Benton
“Blue Eyes Crying In the Rain”—Willie Nelson
“Smokey Mountain Rain”—Ronnie Milsap
“Rainy Days and Mondays”—The Carpenters
“I Can’t Stand the Rain”—Tina Turner
“Riders on the Storm”—The Doors
“It’s Raining Men”—The Weather Girls

and these three that ran counter to what we wanted:

““Let It Rain”—Eric Clapton
“I Love A Rainy Night—Eddie Rabbit
“I Wish It Would Rain”—The Temptations

There are a LOT more. How many can you name?

'Walk on the Wild Side' is my audio guilty pleasure:

The coolest, nastiest song ever...got Alexa repeating it right now.

I could never, ever share it with anyone in my family.

In related trivia: the word "run" has the most definitions in the english language. I know this to be true because my 6th grade teacher used to make us write the definitions out on paper when he got mad at us. No one ever finished before the day ended.

#2 is "set"

#3 is "go"

followed by "take" and "stand".
