The Swinging Sixties - Piggyback Special. Any Interest? GRADES POSTED!!!

New year, and PSA had a new quarterly special. The one I am interested in is called "The Swinging Sixties". If covers 1960-1969 and has a $499 and under limit. They went up a little in price from the Goudey/T206 Special last quarter, from $8.50 to $9.00, but still better than the other guys. I got ENTIRELY too many raw cards and this would knock out all my cards from the 60s.

How about you guys?? Any of you have any cards from the 60's you want to get graded?? Let me know.

Casey2296 01-08-2021 09:11 AM

I'd be interested, let me see what I have that fits. I'm guessing 25-30 cards.

20 card minimum...and of course I am contributing, but I don't know how many I have.....I am pretty sure this one will be a go......

JollyElm 01-08-2021 01:58 PM

I will absolutely take part. My 1967 Laughlins aren't going to grade themselves!

bobbyw8469 01-08-2021 02:10 PM

I am not familiar with that issue. It is baseball only.

Tyruscobb 01-08-2021 05:22 PM

Darn it. Why not fabulous 50s? I’m sitting on a ton of 1950s cards. However, I’m good for 5 or so. I’ll need to take inventory when I get home. Thanks for doing these!

cubman1941 01-09-2021 01:23 PM

I have 9 ready to go when you give the word.

Casey2296 01-09-2021 01:28 PM

I have 107 to send, sent you a pm with a question.

big-six 01-09-2021 02:07 PM

Count me in!

Vegas Cards 01-09-2021 05:26 PM

I'm in. I've got an ungraded '65 set. I'll be pulling 50+ from there.

I haven't looked at the set in a while. A few interesting cards

And a few familiar names

When is the deadline to get cards to you?

Thank you.

peanuts 01-10-2021 12:17 PM

I have about half a dozen cards I would be interested in sending in. Have never graded or done a group grade before – any quick guide I should read?

I’ve only done one group submission with Bobby, but have personally submitted cards numerous times over the years. I’ll try to provide you a few pointers.

The grading fee is $9.00 a card. Then add $1.00 per card for the round-trip (from Bobby’s house to California and back) shipping expense. This brings the expense to $10.00.

You are responsible for paying the shipping to Bobby’s house and for him to return them to you after he receives them back from grading. These shipping fees depend on how many cards you submit and how you want Bobby to ship the back to you. You obviously determine how you ship them to him and that expense.

All cards need to be in the larger plastic semi-rigid holders (typically size I v. II). No top loaders or screw downs. Sandwich all the holders between two slightly larger cardboard pieces. Tape to secure the sandwich.

Include a check in your package. He also typically accepts electronic payments. Also in the package, include a piece of paper that lists the cards you are submitting and their estimated value. This paper should also include your name, address, email, net54 username, and telephone number.

If this submission it is a go, Bobby will post his mailing address and the deadline.

bobbyw8469 01-10-2021 08:47 PM

Please don't overwhelm me with cards....one person is talking about 100+. ANother is talking about 50+. PSA cuts me off at 500 cards....I want as many people to able to participate as possible....if no one wants to sub, the quantities are no problem......

Casey2296 01-10-2021 08:50 PM

Would it help if I cut mine to 60 with 40 in reserve in case you need it?

Vegas Cards 01-10-2021 09:28 PM

I'd be happy with less too. Maybe cap it at 25? Just let me know.

bobbyw8469 01-11-2021 06:46 AM

Yes...that way everyone that wants to can participate. I wouldn't even bother if PSA didn't cap me at 500.

eusmawh 01-11-2021 10:00 AM

Count me in for about 10 cards when you are ready to go

bobbyw8469 01-11-2021 10:12 AM

I'm ready now....it's on....deadline end of the month.

Casey2296 01-11-2021 10:28 AM

Hi Bobby,
Just to be clear, whats the cap number?
Thanks for setting this up.

bobbyw8469 01-11-2021 10:39 AM

Let's say 50.....because the limit is 500.....that lets at LEAST 10 people submit...if they all do the max

Casey2296 01-11-2021 10:41 AM

Will do, I'll set up 50 and have some back up in case you need it.

cubman1941 01-11-2021 01:36 PM

I will get my 9 in the mail tomorrow.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! And PSA perfers the 1's instead of the 2's.

So this special is $10 a card with a $500 max value.

PS - the deadline is the end of the month. So now is NOT the time to be making purchases. These are for guys that already have their cards, and want to get them graded. And be prepared to the process to take 9 months. Think of it like a pregnancy.

cubman1941 01-12-2021 09:34 AM

Does that mean our 5/31 is ready to be born???? :>}

Once it has been logged in.....is when the 9 months start...so we still go a ways to go.

bobbyw8469 01-15-2021 07:21 AM

Winding this one down.

cubman1941 01-15-2021 09:09 AM

Boy, I am confused. I sent the cards out and on Jan 13th they were in Raleigh, then on Jan 14th they were in Greensboro, today they are out for distribution to be delivered Jan 19th.

Should we have a party or a wake? The bright side is I have 50 cards in that sub and I've fotgotten what they look like so it will be like picking up 50 new cards when they finally come back.
And cudos to Bobby for sticking with it, thanks Bobby.

rsdill2 01-11-2022 07:45 PM

Haha, Such a tease to have this thread reappear, but alas, no news.

Bobby, what was the date PSA logged the order so we can see where we are on their CTD tracker.

JollyElm 01-11-2022 07:50 PM

Like my dad leaving for a pack of cigarettes, this sub ain't ever coming back.

It was officially logged in on May 4th, 2021.

What year?

bobbyw8469 01-11-2022 07:59 PM

Technically, isn't PSA still closed???? I haven't sent them anything in months...and I find it hard to believe that $100 per card is the new norm.

So not really a year yet. Regardless of the wait, I'm grateful you put this together. Thanks Bobby.

That's not a problem....you should see my raw card collection. I'll be ready for the next $8 special they come out with. Cards from 1948 with yellow backgrounds featuring players with 4 syllable last names.

bobbyw8469 03-09-2022 07:48 PM

We have moved onto grading

Casey2296 03-09-2022 08:25 PM

God bless, I'll get my 60's cards back before I'm 60. Can't thank you enough for sticking with it Bobby.

Tyruscobb 03-09-2022 09:11 PM

A little bitter sweet. Sweet because I haven’t seen these cards since January 2021, and I’m ready to get them back. Bitter because it’s the last outstanding PSA submissions I have, and will probably have for a while. I refuse to pay $50.00 a card. Also, probably the last group submission Bobby will do for us. Thanks, Bobby.
