Help: Ruth/Gehrig Signature Ball Authentic?

4 Attachment(s)
One of my father’s hobbies was collecting Hall of Fame baseball autographs. Over the years he collected over 150 of them, the pride of which is a 1932 Yankees ball signed by Ruth and Gehrig among others. He unfortunately passed away recently and I don’t know if what he has is real or not. Here are some pictures. I really appreciate everyone’s perspectives before I spend a ton of money going to an authentication company.

I am far from an expert, but the Ruth and Gehrig don't even look close.

Regardless of opinions, do a search to satisfy yourself and I'm sure that you'll see great differences from authentic autographs.

I'm with Tim on this one. Not a Ruth/Gehrig expert, but know it when they're bad, and these don't even look like they're in the ballpark. We have several experts here and I'm sure they'll offer an opinion.

I'm not a Ruth Expert by any stretch, but can clearly tell this one is not good by just glancing at it. Babe's signature did not slant like that. Sorry, but no good.

Ditto, unfortunately neither are authentic. Sorry!

Unfortunately no way...

Laughable is not a strong enough adjective for this one (even though it did make me laugh!) :D

The one good thing is that your Dad passed away thinking they were good, so that he got some enjoyment out of them. You may want to start checking some of his other autographs.

Unfortunately none of the autographs I can see look any good, not Lazzeri, Lary, Ruffing, Sam Byrd, any of them, which is unfortunate. Don't bother sending this to a TPA- it will be a colossal waste of money. Hopefully your Dad didn't spend a fortune on this.

Another point worth mentioning is that as each generation passes on, they often leave collections to heirs who don't want or appreciate them. It might behoove all of us to spend some time going through our collections at some point weeding out inauthentic items, so when the inevitable happens, our heirs get the benefit of our hobby and and not the heartbreak of learning the best stuff in our collection was fake.
