That's awesome!

Yep. Good to see it. In ancient times my brother and I would take our doubles to my friend's house and trade him and his brother the ones they needed for the ones we needed. Mickey Mantle had the same value as Hector Lopez, zero. In fact if you bought some cellos and kept getting Mantles instead of the ones you needed to complete the current series checklist, it was annoying.

Well that warms the heart, beautiful, thank you for sharing.

That's awesome, thanks for posting!

Larry that's fantastic
I have 7 grandkids from age 1 to 11 I have truckloads of cards for them....but none of them collect  |
Awesome. Takes me back to the 1978-1983 range, trading Topps baseball cards with my friends. Like Peter said above, all cards were equal value. We just looked through each others' doubles and picked an equal number of cards. Everyone eventually had a full set.

Awesome!

The body language of the two kids on the left tells me they are going to do very well for themselves in this exchange. :)

Fun stuff! That's what the hobby is all about.

When I was a junior in college in 1980, that was the primary thought I had when I decided to become a full-time baseball card dealer. The idea was, buy cards in bulk vending cases for around a penny each, sort them, and sell the Tigers to guys in Michigan for 3 cents each, etc. I knew from my childhood days, I'd rather spend a dollar and have all the Twins, rather than 100 random cards, with likely only 5 Twins. So, I bought 35 cases in 1980 to test the theory. First team that sold out? The A's. I soon learned about the hot new concept of rookie cards. All the buyer wanted was the Hendersons. With help from a lot of people the business eventually did make me self-sufficient for about a decade, but with a few teams as exceptions, my original theory was mostly dead right from the start. |
It's been a long time since I've seen something like that. That's what it's supposed to be about. Awesome 👍 !

There was this recent thread documenting the Panini World Cup sticker/album phenomena:
https://www.net54baseball.com/showth...hlight=minutes The 60 Minutes segment that featured it had a portion that was devoted to the prevalence of trading to complete albums, and that these stickers were actually used as stickers and adhered into the albums. It is like a throwback to a few decades ago, and it was fun to watch the enthusiasm of kids and adults alike pursuing them for the joy of collecting. Brian |
Wow!! That is great. A great way to spend time with the grand kids and make lots of lasting memories. Thanks for sharing.

What fun! And a training ground for Wall Street, or just plain fundamentals for value creation!
