I was sent these scans..Do you believe these to be legit

Posted By: Felicia
Hi,
I took the examples of these cards I own slabbed already and compared type, backs et all and they look ok to me other than the corners on each of these look the same with wear. They are not trying to sell them, they are trying to figure out if these are real or fakes.
Any help would be appreciated. If you deem them to be fake can you point out what it is that makes you feel that way as I would always appreciate the ability to expand my knowledge on these cards.
Thank you in advance.

Posted By: John
I'm with Jim perhaps I'm just looking for issues but something seems odd with them...

At first glance they look good but the wear is odd, and some of the images look really flat like on the Matty perhaps it's glare from the sheet.

Posted By: peter ullman
the similarity of the corners is odd...but...if they were carried in ones pocket in a stack...this would result. The cards definitely look real...I vote for stacked theory!

Posted By: Tim Sanders
my only concerns are that they have the uniform rounding but also these are not run of the mill cards why isn't there a Kissinger, Jordan or Wiltse. How did they get a grouping of some of the better cards...Not Honus but not common (even the commons are the rare variations of those cards). Are there others? How and where were they acquired?

Posted By: leon
I agree with you. These are all top tier HOF'ers or difficult variations. Unless there are other cards too, I have a concern. I also don't think the corners should all be so similar in wear. The player selection has me most concerned though....regards

Posted By: Felicia
I am not sure about the particulars, I was asked If I thought these to be legit. I thought they were from what I could see and compared them to the examples I have that were slabbed by TPG and I purchased here from other members.
After inquiring further, I was told that they were the best of a group of appox 200 raw T-206's that were owned. I then asked if they were trying to buy them and they said they had not thought about it up to this point and wanted to know if they were real or not.
I figured where else to go to find out then here where the most knowledgable people on the planet reside with regards to this issue of cards.

edited for spelling

Posted By: leon
That makes some more sense. Many times it's hard to tell with 100% certainty from scans. If these were the ONLY cards in the whole group I would have had more reservations.....good luck and best regards

Posted By: Felicia
Just to be clear I really was inquiring for someone else..not myself

I purchased the matty and johnson from scott levy which he can attest to. I already own most of those cards slabbed as can be seen by this picture.

She is an avid collector and a shining star in this small world of collecting. She truly is one of a kind. I welcome anything she can add to the board.

In Rememberance of James W. Brennan Sr. 1924-1982. Dad, thanks for everything you did for me.
