Question about Price of Lefty Grove Store Model Glove

I have a question about the price of a Lefty Grove store model glove. Please check out the eBay auction below.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=330449248938

The auction ended with a price of $1125. Most Grove store model gloves sell for under $200. Many under $100. The only big difference that I can see with this glove is that it is a pitcher's model. It is also for a left-handed thrower and it seems to be in pretty good condition. But does all of this equate to a price of $1125? That seems a bit over the top to me. Any other ideas or opinions?

Thanks!

Question about Price of Lefty Grove Store Model Glove

I agree that was a bit high, someone really wanted that glove, but the model is a very difficult Reach glove to get. Finding another one may take some time. I have noticed prices for bats and gloves that have been endorsed by hall of famers end at very good prices recently. Ruth store model bats have been very strong

It was a combination of condition, features, rarity, and correct hand. Any one of those factors by itself will push it above the average selling price. Having all of them is what drove it up to that figure. Looks to be a very easy clean up job too which is another plus.

This is one of two Reach Pitcher’s Model Lefty Grove gloves, of similar condition, that are known to have been found. First, the glove is an extremely large, top of the line professional model of the highest quality. If you’ve ever held one, you’ll know why it commands a significant premium over other Grove endorsed gloves. It’s simply a massive piece of leather. Second, it boasts a rather unique, and very scarce, rainey-trap web. Third, compared to other examples, the stampings on this one are sharp with limited ink bleeding. Fourth, its overall condition is simply spectacular. From the pristine patch to the practically unused, smooth inner lining to the unspoiled leather piping, the glove is simply in marvelous condition. As for cleaning it, if you notice from the pictures, the photo of the back of the glove was taken with a flash while the one of the front was not. I think if a flash were used on the front picture too, the final price would have been even higher and no one would be concerned about cleaning it. Lastly, it is a “correct hand” glove for the endorser. Usually left-hand throw gloves are viewed as unwanted stepchildren. In this case, however, the guy’s name was LEFTY! A righty glove simply won’t suffice! And remember, three different bidders lifted this glove over 1k, so I wouldn’t consider the ending price a fluke.
