Fidel Castro original snapshot photo playing for Los Barbudos. Not normally a thing I buy, but it's pretty interesting. Does anyone know what the back of the photo says?

Brent-
I, too would like to see more of the Bat. Looks like a potentially great one. Also, your Tigers Pennant is likely from the late 1940s, and is a beauty. Pretty rare with that color scheme... Congrats. |

1970 Atlanta Braves autographed ball
1 Attachment(s)
My wife and I had a yard sale the past two days, and a family friend bartered this baseball for some sports stuff I was selling. Two Hall of Famers' autographs next to each other is pretty sweet...

Another Hall of Fame weekend in the books. As always a great time in Cooperstown. On Friday I had Al Kaline sign my Tiger Stadium seat that I had purchased last week. Also picked up this Websters baseball poster. Pretty good weekend!

Kaline
That really is a great item! I especially like the way he took the time to sign it boldly in a great spot with a Sharpie that stands out! How many HOFamers would do that today?
I am curious how much Kaline was charging for his sig. Regardless, you got a great deal on that no matter how much you paid! Mike |

Thank you everybody. Al was happy to see it. He said that he had a few of those seats. Overall it was a great experience and I think he really enjoyed seeing something different to sign. I paid $70 for him to sign it.

Way to go ron love kaline

Mic Stand
1 Attachment(s)
Here's the story: This guy calls me and says his father maintained the sound systems at most entertainment venues in Nashville beginning in the 1940s: the fairgrounds racetrack, Vanderbilt football stadium and gym, and Nashville's baseball stadium, Sulphur Dell.
He told me that as a kid he would go with his dad to install new and replace worn-out equipment, holding on to the old stuff to use as replacement parts. He ran across me as a collector of Nashville baseball memorabilia through www.sulphurdell.com and wanted me to have a mic stand from Sulphur Dell that he held on to as a memento. After contacting me we met and he handed this over, not accepting my offer to pay for it. He said he placed the masking tape over the mic stand back in the 60s and set it on a shelf at his business. Sulphur Dell was no longer used as a ballpark in 1964, and was a race track during 1965, was demolished in 1969. Believable story? I'd appreciate any opinions. I know there's no real worth, but I'm wondering if I should locate a microphone from the period for display purposes. |
Estate Sale Pickup #2
2 Attachment(s)
This was my other pickup, today. A nice Dubow tunnel web Bill Jurges model from the '30's with an unusual back. For $10 it was a no-brainer.
|
Skip - sounds believable to me, and yes adding a mic would be a nice display.

Joe, nice estate sale pick ups. I never find any good vintage sports at estate sales anymore. (Btw - you have the coolest name, ever :p)

Estate Sale Pickups
Thanks, Joe. There was a ton of sports memorabilia there, but most was recent stuff and overpriced as is true for most estate sales. These two items were just overlooked by the sales company; in fact, nobody even knew what the field marker was until I told them AFTER I purchased it. The glove had been thrown in with some toys, thinking it was a child's mitt.
