REA - how'd ya make out?

Discussion aside from the hard midnight close, there were some very impressive items up for grabs last night. Who ended up as high bidders when the clock struck 12?
One lot coming my way - I've been keeping an eye out for one of these for a while, and was happy to add this one! |
Honestly...I forgot about them. I wish I hadn't as I lost a lot I really wanted to win. It went cheap too.
|
That was a steal Scott, nice pickup!
|
Love K-Bats. Nice pick up.

The photo was very under-priced IMO and the composite piece fits nicely with my other A's pieces

Happy to add this one to my Chase collection.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...02f76fc025.jpg

I've always liked the Boston K-Bat. Great pick up at a great price.

Nice job David. The best two of the Brown’s Champs.

That Browns Tri-fold is a beautiful piece at a pretty nice price. I love the Jackets they're sporting... especially displayed in panoramic style. Speaking of the Brownies... did anyone here win Lot 1914 (the 1888 Browns Celluloid piece?) I thought that item was stunning as well, but it exceeded my budget with a late-night flurry. |
Hardwood Trade Card
Attachment 362985
Did anyone look at the Harwood Trade Card? Sold for $2500 less than consignor purchased it in 2005. I saw a similar card on Ebay over the weekend, though he Seller (who would appear to have sold a significant number of items on Ebay) specifically stated that it (the Ebay one) may be a reproduction. Just wondered about people's thoughts. Could just be that the consignor way over paid way back when. |
Not prewar, but I have been looking for a high grade copy of this and finally got it last night.

Michael, BAM!! That is how it’s done.

Marquard and Packard. Both PSA 3’s. |

I picked up a couple items, these being my two favorites. Been wanting a Winthrop for a number of years and forgot to bid on the one last year.
|
beat down
I got curb stomped on every lot. great for the pocket book, horrible for the collection.

I finally won a female ball player cabinet
After years of being outbid. It's the only one with two players.

Had high bid on one card for about 4 hours Sunday, wasn't sure if I made a mistake. Eventually I was outbid in the overtime, and the next 8% I needed was too much IMO. "It" happens, as Forrest Gump says on TBS.

Just this one, but it's the one I wanted the most:

Picked up the 1909 Newark Eagles postcard and the McGinnity lot ( basically to upgrade my C46 in my set).

Great cards, all. That K-Bats team card is really cool.
If the winner of the OJ lots 78 and 84 wants to sell a Fogarty, let me know. Thanks. I had the Sporting Times Keefe on my bidder card and was ready to take it if no one else wanted it, but it ended up selling over 10K. Was languishing below 2k for a long time. Congrats to the winner of it. Here are 2 T216's of Evers... |

For anyone not familiar with these, here is a animation of the Brown from the old cardboard website http://www.oldcardboard.com/pc/1906-...nimation10.gif |
I unfortunately struck out in REA for the first time in awhile. Luckily they were nothing to get too upset over:D
Great pickups everyone! |
OT: I won a Bob Dylan handbill for a concert in my home town (Norfolk) during my senior year in high school (1966). Unfortunately, I didn't attend the show.
As to baseball, Chuck Stobbs and Hank Foiles were the battery for my high school (Granby) but long before my time ('46 I believe). |

from the listing--- On the offered card, Gibson is shown in a left-handed pitching follow-through pose, the result of a prank played by Gibson on the Topps photographer tasked with compiling images for use in the upcoming set. The prank was ultimately discovered by editors at Topps and corrected with the portrait image before the final run... |
That Winthrop is great!
I knocked off two cards I wanted, a 1962 Pittsburgh Exhibit Mays and a 1985 Star Jordan Slam Dunk. |

Was pretty happy to add this one.

So- with all the noise in the hobby- what does everyone think of the hammer prices in REA?
Anything go high?- low? Did I overpay for my one win? |

Hey Andy, that's a great Tinker.
|
Jeff,
Glad to see the Mack find a good home, I traded that off several years ago and was very tempted to buy it back in the auction, but decided to let it find another home as bidding on other items escalated. |
Thanks guys.
Andy- great HOF Lenox. Jeff- Stunning image of Mack. Anthony- Love the K-Bats! Great pairing. |
