The Nun's Wagner

1 Attachment(s)
So our poster who has the Wagner would like to come back on the board. I think he wants to explain himself. I didn't want the other thread being able to be edited, for the moment, so this thread. And I am going to reinstate Andrew and we can take it from there....Not sure how else to accomplish letting him back and protecting the other thread's posts.

vintagetoppsguy 02-18-2013 08:46 PM

Clearly Photoshopped. Look at the slab. The corners are square. Come on!

Jacklitsch 02-18-2013 08:51 PM

I tend to agree that it looks photoshopped. Slab appears a bit larger than normal.

ullmandds 02-18-2013 08:54 PM

Who's the bozo on tv?

flavius 02-18-2013 08:55 PM

Even if it is photoshopped, this is a trade you are obviously going to do in person. If he doesn't have the card, he won't get yours.

I would encourage him to post a 5-10 second video with the card.

TNP777 02-18-2013 08:57 PM

I'm pretty sure I know who manufactured that dresser.

ctownboy 02-18-2013 08:59 PM

1) If he owns the card then what is the story behind it?

2) Why he is willing to sell it for $75,000 when the last sale, to the Dr. in Philadelphia, was for $220,000?

That's pretty cool how the slab sticks to his fingers like that without his fingers really touching the sides. Is he Spider-Man? But, like, TINY Spider-Man, since the slab is almost as big as his entire face.

I don't know what Heritage was thinking; nuns consigning a card is nowhere NEAR as interesting as Tiny Spider-Man consigning it.

Shoele$$ 02-18-2013 09:00 PM

Thread of the year yet??......:)

Gotta agree though, those corners are like perfect points on that slab

Give him some points on creativity though....

ullmandds 02-18-2013 09:01 PM

I Dont know...the kids room is a mess! Clothes on the floor...lotion and paper towel near the tv...he doesnt look like the cool kid on the boat surrounded by hotties?!

I bet wags is sticky!

queencitysportscards 02-18-2013 09:01 PM

Look at the reflection in the back mirror...see anything? If he was indeed holding the card it would show up in the mirror in the background...

novakjr 02-18-2013 09:02 PM

Hmmm! 3 bottles of lotion, a roll of paper towels, what appears to be some sort of gay porn-star on the tv, and the complete and total look of shame on his face.. I wonder what's going on there?:eek::eek:

Edited to add: Damn, Peter. You beat me to it.. No pun intended.

vintagetoppsguy 02-18-2013 09:02 PM

Whenever you scan an SGC slab, there are certain glare marks around the edge of the holder from the scanner. If you blow up his pic and compare the Wagner he is holding to the Wagner in the original pics, the glare marks are identical.

leon let me back on the board. I didnt know this was worth as much as it is. with this in mind i am going to list the card if i do somewhere else. I didnt mean to stir up this amount of chaos as I do use this board alot and am always diligent in my transactions.
thanks
andrew

The card holder edges--top, bottom and side to side--are perfectly parallel to the top, bottom and sides of the picture he submitted.
PERFECTLY PARALLEL. A PERFECT RECTANGLE.
I used the selection tool in photoshop (dotted line) to illustrate the point in this blow-up.

So the Wagner is absolutely flat in reference to the photographer's vantage point. That occurring naturally is as close to impossible as you can get.

I don't know the guy, so I lack a horse in this race, but he obviously held something (perhaps a graded card), took a picture and then superimposed a 'professional' scan of the Wagner in front of it.

vintagetoppsguy 02-18-2013 09:19 PM

If you're gonna try to scam someone, do it up right. Let me help you out, bro...

Seems legit. It really is the little things in life that make me happy. I've got a two hour ride home right now and this thread should make it bearable.

I was hoping someone would post a picture of the "Topps" kid (kid on the topps wax cases I believe). holding up the card in a "wow" fashion and then superimpose the Wagner.

LOL! :D

Actually, you can see his hand in the mirror...........and he's not holding anything!

This is just precious.

Shoele$$ 02-18-2013 09:46 PM

I wonder if he'll take a Cobb bat off Sweet Cap for the Mona Lisa......

milkit1 02-18-2013 09:46 PM

Vampire card! I'm smelling a twilight sequel!

ctownboy 02-18-2013 09:48 PM

Guys, guys, guys, don't you get it? He owns a VAMPIRE T206 Wagner!!!! You can see it when you look at it but its reflection wont appear in a mirror......

David

stewbacca 02-18-2013 09:49 PM

Check out the Tobacco BST section. He has decided to list it somewhere else.

Jlighter 02-18-2013 09:49 PM

Edited: Unnecessary.

TNP777 02-18-2013 09:50 PM

If it ever makes it to auction, there had darn well better be full transparency, not any of that whack-ass semi-transparency that litters eBay.

Now I'm even more interested in buying it, that card is sick! Doesn't even give off a reflection

bobbyw8469 02-18-2013 09:54 PM

I'm willing to bet the real owner of that card has it sitting in a safety deposit box somewhere, and not in a house with minimalistic furniture and dirty socks on the floor.

aclinton1107 02-18-2013 09:55 PM

i didnt realize this card was worth that much, I did not photoshop... i will be putting this card up... and indeed if a deal was done we would do it in person.... im always diligent in my transactions in here.
thanks
andrew

Robextend 02-18-2013 09:55 PM

I bet you the iceberg that sunk the Titanic is stashed in the freezer.

How do you explain a (seemingly) wealthy gentleman showing that he won the same card in a Heritage auction, on Youtube, from a few years ago? He's got your card!!

npa589 02-18-2013 10:02 PM

Haven't you heard that TV adds 10 lbs? Andrew is clearly the very successful cardiologist with millions of dollars of memorabilia in a highly organized, and well-kept show room! The game worn Gehrig jersey is under the lotion.

I'm in the process of making him an offer on THE actual knife OJ used.....I'll keep everyone posted.

He also has the "missing" white suit Ray Lewis was wearing the night of the Super Bowl murders if anyone is interested?

Ok, as long as I can have Benjamin Franklin's kite and Thomas Edison's phonograph.

This actually makes sense. Andrew forgot to tell us that his grandfather is Nosferatu. Here's a photo of him taking in a Nationals/Phillies game last year.
