Signed 1933 Goudey trio of pitchers that did

Thanks to net54 board member Marty Sullivan, I recently picked up nice vintage signed 1933 Goudey cards of Bobby Burke and Lon Warneke to create a trio of pitchers that all pitched no-hitters.

I love these early Goudey cards. Lots of color and interesting artwork...

Lordstan 05-05-2022 09:02 PM

Thanks Scott and great cards.

Well. I am on a roll. Picked up this great plaque from 1932. In the past someone posted another of these along with the matching one of the Cubs. Not sure who made them, but seems to date from 1932 WS.

Although I don't know offhand what Joe McCarthy looked like, the representations of Ruth and Gehrig are pretty good. This is not always the case.

Great Month of Items Already

See the "54" off to another roaring start of super pieces ! Mark beautiful photos and awesome plaque Sir, Tony, love the C J crate and it looks even better with your presentation. Picked up this nice informational glass slide showing the opening of game 1 of the 1915 World Series. It`s about 3 X 4 inches and is in great shape. Thanks to fellow member Jeff P for working with me on this. Always on the lookout for Ruth related items and this one from his 1`st W S appearance is perfect for me. Can you find him ?

That is sweet, a Magic Lanter Slide. You do not see many of those, and from what I've seen, most images may be unique. They didn't mass produce them to distribute to the public, so chances are when/if you find one, there's probably not another one like it out there. I believe I have a few from the same time. Great pickup, the images are usually gorgeous and crystal clear on these.

Picked up a 1922 Mrs Sherlock's Bread pin of Joe Giard. He was pitcher on 1927 Yankees. Never had a card collectible, so this I believe is his only collectible

Great items. It is amazing to see what is out there! Congrats!

I was lucky enough to get this B18 blanket of Cavanaugh with a different color scheme. Usually the Tigers have blue bases and green basepaths with either a white or brown infield. This is a clear departure from that. There are a couple anomalies known but this is first Cavanaugh I have seen or heard about with these colors. This was stitched into a quilt or blanket but to get a possibly unique item, that was overlooked.

Congrats for the great pick up guys!!! I just got this 1 3/4 inch Roy Campanella pin. According to Hake's the yellow is a rare color for this pin. Unfortunately it has several surface scratches but still displays well.

perezfan 05-13-2022 01:42 PM

Nice pickup! I have never seen the Campy PM10 with that yellow background. Would be really cool to display it side-by-side with the yellow Jackie.

Much nicer than the usual light blue/grey.... the yellow background really pops!

edtiques 05-14-2022 12:38 AM

Thanks Mark! This is the first Campanella PM10 I've seen in yellow too. After getting it, I searched the internet looking for another one like it. I finally found one from the Paul Muchinsky collection that sold in Hake's auction last year.

I’m pretty excited about this pick up which arrived today. It’s the printing flog used by The Pittsburgh Post Gazette to create the front page of the Oct 18, 1971 newspaper edition.

Great item Mike as this is definitely a unique collectible. I was fortunate to find one from the 1960 Pirates WS win years ago.

TUM301 05-15-2022 10:18 AM

Mike, really nice pick up with that newspaper flog. It’s pieces like that that make collecting fun and interesting. Enjoy it Sir.

ooo-ribay 05-15-2022 07:33 PM

Pirate Mikes - those are both very cool and great finds for your respective Pirates collections….but I don’t quite understand how those were used. Google turned up nothing for “printing flog.”

Couldn't resist this tray without the usually seen "Best Wishes" on the back. I was surprised to see the one I just got is somewhat smaller too. Other differences are a © 1962, rather than 1959, and no blue tint in the scoreboard. When I got my magnifying glass out, I discovered these were made in Setauket, Long Island....I would have thought Bay Area.

I've also attached the ebay picture. For 10 bucks, I would have been OK if it was discolored with ago but, no, merely dust. I'm always surprised when seller don't, at least, wipe something off. :p

Picked up the Louis Santop photo during the most recent RMY auction. Not too many of these around. Plus there are no playing day cards of him either. I loved that it was an action shot and Hilldale was playing Parksburg which is not far from where I live.

Pretty crazy...I'd never heard of a flong until a couple of days ago...Mike posted a video a day later to explain them...then, the following night, I'm watching This Old House and they find them in the walls.

Here's a nice 1860s baseball cdv I recently picked up. It's hard to see, but it says, "Get Up & Git" on their bats. I haven't been able to find anything on that yet.

bgar3 05-23-2022 03:01 PM

Great cdv Gary. Hope you track down the phrase on the bats.

Bill Rayburn 05-23-2022 03:05 PM

Great pick up Gary. Those guys are some “Serious Dudes”.

GaryPassamonte 05-24-2022 02:51 PM

Thanks guys. I haven't bought a baseball cdv in a long time. I couldn't pass this one up for some reason.

Incredible image, Gary!

Are those the type of bats that had the wound leather handle grips? The one on the right sure looks like it. :)

Regardless... Congrats on a great pickup!

It sure looks like it, Mark. That definitely puts wound handle bats into the 1860s.

Bought this bat last night. As just a single player collector for bats it is my first new to me model bat in a very long time. I now have 14 different Wade Boggs LS Flame Tempered models. Can't wait to get it and clean it up so it displays better.

I flew to Pittsburgh for the Monroeville show last weekend. I’m trying to get a complete run of game used bats for the 1971 Pirates. I’m limiting my efforts to position players who had at least one at bat and played at least one inning in the field. There are 18 such player. I’ve managed to get 14 of them so far. I love player nicknames. One of my favorites was Gene Clines who teammates nicknamed “Little Angry” I had hoped to have him sign that on my bat but unfortunately he died recently. When I saw the opportunity to get Richie Hebner “Grave Digger” Bob Robertson “The Mount Savage Strong Boy” and Dave Cash “Action Dog” I figured I better get it done now.

Just picked up this Cygnus lighter. I love finding something that is 60 years old and has never been taken from its original wrapping. I found a youtube where a guy shows all his Cygnus lighters. Check the original price in the screenshot. I only paid about 442x that amount :p I assume this is an SF lighter but it could be NY.

Recent pick up in Heritage. "To Karen". Wish I knew who Karen was as she definitely had relationships with players both from Rockford and Muskegon. Had the photo--had to keep the ball with it.
