Ebay - Digital Cards scam?

Found what I thought was a great deal on an RPA on ebay, placed my max bid about 3 hours before the auction ended. Got to thinking about it in the meantime about it being too good of deal and re-read the listing and sure enough it's a digital card. WTF? You see these all over ebay. Are there people that actually collect digital patch autographed cards? Or are these just sellers who are trying to pull a fast one on people like me who don't read the fine print? Luckily, I was later outbid. And if I had won, would I just have gotten a jpg or pdf file?

The short answer is that, yes, they've turned sports cards into non-fungible tokens. And yes, the auctions sometimes confuse people who think they're getting a real card.

There are plenty of people who pay money for cards in Topps Bunt, that are digital items for use in the App only. However, it shouldn't be anywhere close to the cost of a real card. And no, it's not a scam. Just a thing you don't collect.
