Baseball question - Steal of home
I am watching the World Series tonight and saw the attempt to steal home. The announcers made a point that the pitcher must step off the rubber to throw home. My question is , what happens if the pitcher does not step off the rubber and throws home. Joe Buck indicated this was a balk. Why ?

To go home while still on the rubber he has to come to a complete stop before delivering home. If he throws home without that stop, it would be a balk.

Exactly correct, Morris. During the broadcast they kept implying Kershaw had to step off the rubber and, as you stated, that is not true.

Personally I thought the batter jumped out of the batters box too soon and gave away the attempted steal. |
So, was Robinson out like Yogi Berra stated he was, even years after? I'd say Yogi was right.

I think Yogi was right. Even as late as 2008 when I saw him at the HOF he was saying he was out...not, I thought he was out, but HE WAS OUT!!! LOL
