What price point is T206 must buy?

At what price point would you grab a T206 regardless of condition?

Assuming a common player and back and would grade anywhere from Authentic to a 1...at what price would you grab it - no questions asked - and at what price would you pass?

I grabbed a couple of T206 with paper loss on the back or a small tear or them for $5 each.

Anything under $7 generally

Under $12 bucks or so. I only have a few PSA/SGC 1's.

Any t206 at $5 a piece should be bought. I'd go up to $10 on most beaters.

The devil made me do it

In the early days of eBay, I used to bid $6.66 on any T206. If I won, I told my wife the devil made me do it.

Now Ed, If Howe is on the back? I know my price on an F.F.Baker.

To the board: Sell one and find out. :)

The T206 and the damage done

I just put theory into action, especially with a larger purchase, by listing a group of lower condition T206 cards on the BST. I dare anyone to check it out and test their own T206 price pain threshold.

It would all depend on graded or not, and if not what's the condition like. After being around a little while I'm half way decent at judging condition.

If it's something that could grade a 2 lets say. I'd idealistically like to spend about $15 because of grading it would cost $6-8.

Now if it were a PSA 2 $22-27

I would jump on those for $5 each all day long, assuming they were reasonably complete (90% there). As to "regardless of condition", that would still depend. There are poor cards, and there are POOR cards. There are trimmed, and there are TRIMMED. I passed on some trimmed commons a few weeks back for $2-$3 apiece, as they were only about 2/3 there. Except for a couple similar condition southern leaguers that I paid $6 and $8.

Based off of the criteria you've listed that the condition those cards were in I'm not sure I'd want them. However the question remains, where the hell do you find T206s for those prices?

A dealer had them at a show in the area a few weeks back. Trust me, it's NOT a regular thing that they appear this 'cheap'. LOL I believe they came from a long time collection. He had T206 and T205s, including some biggies (Cobb, Matty, etc). Some were REALLY trimmed and some were just trimmed at the borders. Paper loss on the backs as well, but hey, who cares as they were mostly Piedmonts (and already trimmed). The Cobbs and most of the T205s were already gone by the time I got there, but I did pick up a few. Got a T206 Lajoie for $30 that was only missing the border and a T205 Joss for $40 that was only missing the top and bottom borders.
