Kevin Mitchell 1989 "ALCS" Error Bat-- Help Requested

I found this bat for sale on eBay:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/KEVIN-MITCH...R/373444107722

I am interested in it but it puzzles me. I could not find any video evidence of Mitchell using this bat during the 1989 NLCS (and granted, I could have missed it). So let us assume he did not use it during the NLCS. Could he have used this earlier? I do not know when LCS bats are issued to players. Are they issued when clinched?

I assume it could have been used in the Series but I did not look for visual evidence in the World Series.

All told, I am a rookie in this area and am puzzled. With that said, the 9.5 GU grade is quite high. Any thoughts or input on this to help out the rookie bat collector here? Thanks,

Matt

I don't know if this will help and I may be operating with old information but I was very active in GU around that time (not since) and I believe each player got one box (6 or 12) of CS bats around that time. I have had in the past a few CS bats from the A's 1988-90 run so they were definitely around back then.

It was not uncommon for players to sometime use another player's bat, however I recall having 1 or 2 Mitchell bats and vaguely recall no writing on the knob like this one.

Thanks!!! This is very helpful. I never realized LCS bats were given/ordered. I am already learning things like mad. Every little bit piece of knowledge I can gain is a plus!

Matt
