Guess the grade

Hi everyone. Just sent this off to SGC. Wanted to get opinions on grade. Thanks in advance.

Maybe it's just my eyes, but the pics seem a little less than perfectly clear, which doesn't make it easy to evaluate.

But it does seem like the corners are pretty sharp, and your biggest issue is probably centering. Unless there's some hidden flaws on the surface that aren't picked up on the scans, I would guess that it might grade as high as a 7.

Naturally, if you've got some surface wear or hidden wrinkles or something not being picked up by the scan, then it could come down a bit to maybe a 5? Of course, that's assuming that you don't have something majorly wrong like re-coloring or trimming or something, in which case you would just end up with Authentic.

Look at me hedging my bets!

I guess you can report back in a few weeks when you get it back, and we'll see how it actually graded.

Thank you so Much for your feedback. No wrinkles or creases.

That looks in exceptional shape.

What's the provenance/background on it?

I bought it from a local collector. Hes had it for well over 40 years.

Looks like the two top corners are touched and one of the bottoms. It looks like a 6 or maybe 7 to me. Nice card.

5 because of centering issues?

philliesfan 02-08-2023 02:33 PM

In my non expert opinion, I would go with a 6.5
really nice card!

That's my guess too unfortunately...SGC has been super hard on centering here lately...

I’m going with a 6!

My money is on 5, a fitting number for the Yankee Clipper.

As consensus seems to suggest

I think your range is 5-7 barring anything unseeable. I'll pick the 6 as well.

4. SGC will hammer the centering. Beautiful card!

Concurred. SGC will hammer the centering on that. I'd send it to PSA. Really depends on what else is going on that we can't see, but looks like it would do really well.

stlcardsfan 02-09-2023 12:01 PM

It's an awesome card. But based on how SGC grades these days, I'm going to say a 3.5 or a 4.

Probably a 6 several years ago.

capt14k 02-12-2023 12:20 PM

5 SGC is really hitting hard on centering.
