Posted By: Ken W.
Jerry,
Yes, the Hartford CDV is glued to the bottom of an old glass dome paperweight - the back covered with felt. I'm not sure of its authenticity, but have always been intrigued. Just not sure how to extricate it without damaging any further. Obviously, if its the real thing, it would be worthwhile to know for sure.
|
Show me a Cabinet or CDV Card from your collection
Posted By: barrysloate
Ken- the Hartford CdV appears absolutely authentic to me. Does it look intact, or is it trimmed down to fit under the glass? If it's all there, it would be worth the money to have a conservator extricate it.

When I get it I'll see if I can get a better scan or something.

I don't know what a ring bat is, but I thought they might be quilted pants. I couldn't tell for positive but that's what I thought too. I figure quilted pants for women is maybe 1900-1910 or even later, on the assumption that they were hand-me-downs from the guys who were wearing them in the 1890's. Shady logic, but it's all I got!

I'm waiting to see the hat. It looks like it's full-brim from the photo. We'll see.

J

PS - Thanks for the friendly edit Leon.

Of course it's already desirable because it's a woman baseball player, but the bat adds to the photo.

http://baseball-fever.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=25304&d=1182028389
