Posted By: daryle
Bid but then the riot started. Do you really think this card would actually gotten by you guys or any other collector that is familiar with these cards? Anyway, sorry that I breathed and asked a simple, not intended to start a riot question. I only asked beacuse as I said, I knew what the card probably was before I ever clicked on it after I read the "Cleveland" and the "Boyd" part in the auction title knowing that there was a Boyd in that set, but was unfamiliar with the "look" of the cards, beacuse to me, its looks thin, like newer card stock. I thought this was part of this forum, to ask questions, discuss cards/sets, and to learn something new. Once again, I apologize and will never ask another question, or post information on here regarding an auction (via eBay or anyplace else), even if I have knowledge of it being fake or altered. I will have no hard feelings to anyone who responded to me for mentioning this auction. I came to this forum to make friends and to learn more about vintage cards, even though I've been collecting for 25 years, just not vintage for the entire 25 years. I will be on here daily and hope no one holds this against me. As I said, I'm here to make friends and to enjoy my beloved hobby, and to possibly be of help to someone in the future regarding a question about a card, sets, on any information that I may have knowledge of. Gonna forget this ever happened. Good luck to those who bid...........................

Posted By: James Gallo
Daryle

It isn't a matter of you asking questions or posting. It is forum etiquette on every board I have ever been on to not post a live auction.

Say you find a hidden auction and someone post is. All of a sudden a card that was getting no bids goes through the roof. As a result instead of you maybe getting a nice card cheap you either end up paying through the nose for it or not getting it at all.

It isn't about not asking questions or asking about auctions but you should do it after the auction ends.

If you are really that worried about it being a fake card, you can either take a chance, or contact someone privately that could help you.

It would be a shame to not ask questions and contribute to a board just because of this.

If you haven't been on a forum there is a learning curve, just like anything else. Hopefully now you know better and will continue to ask questions and post.

I am sure there is no disrespect or bad blood but it is a common courtesy thing.

Good Luck

James Gallo

Looking for 1915 Cracker Jacks and 1909-11 American Caramel E90-1.

Posted By: Dave
I wouldn't take exception to what anyone has said here. There are people here that do get touchy about auctions being brought up before they are over. To me is a bit anal....there isn't a person on here who is not aware of ebay...and not aware of the one section of ebay pertaining to pre-1930 cards. The only time I personally would ever have a problem with it is when someone would post an auction that they are running as the seller...that I'd have a problem with. But the card is going to go for what it's worth period....not like it was going to slip through the cracks and go for $70. By the way....many people on here myself included have posted a real/fake post.....just because this one turned out to be real some people take offense? Come on....

Folks got mad because the thread was made...and it was completetly a real/fake thread. I dont think Daryle had an idea if it was real or not. There is quite often people posting live auctions on here and asking is this fake or does that look authentic. And most often the items in fact are fake so nobody gets mad. It usually turns into "chalk another one up for the good guys". This wasn't any different other than the fact it was an authentic piece. Had it been fake everyone would have been fine with it...just seems like a double standard. If someone is going to get lectured for asking if I live item is real, then nobody should post any real/fake subjects on any live auctions period.
