Posted By: leon
Some are on my new, and badly needing improvement, website. As soon as I get it figured out I believe I will have some of the best cards for sale anywhere. Lot's more of the ones just like I have listed will have a price tag on them (albeit not a cheap one)......No need to ask what else there is because there's a little of everything. I am going to sell most of my dupes (D303's, D304's, D359's, E92's, E94, T-cards, etc) to subsidize some other stuff. Hopefully the site will be improved in the next week or sooner......and thanks to those that have made offers. And as all will see I DO give a return policy. My thinking is that this is a retail site and NOT an auction (ebay) so a return policy is warranted. To each their own.... regards all (the D304 has 2 offers now that are for the listed price...it's sold...thanks)

<a href="http://www.geocities.com/typecard777/vintage_baseball_etc.html</a" target=_new>http://www.geocities.com/typecard777/vintage_baseball_etc.html</a>

Posted By: leon
I am posting here as to not commit a feux pa (sp?). I am sure I spelled that incorrectly. I have had numerous requests as to what I have that is going to be sold. Quite honestly I have not gone through my stuff to see what is for keeps and not. In general I am a type collector and like to have 2 of everything as I can compare what I have to each other (for various reasons). I am probably not going to make any private deals as I want my website to have some really cool stuff on it. If I sell everything first then "no" website... Once I get it together I will make a post here that all is good and the website is up and running. As always it's first come first served...even to my dear friends. I had 5 people offer me what I was asking on the D304 and the Old Judge Hanlon is also sold. SO far so good.....we'll be talkin......also I am thinking about getting them all graded first too...regards all (relax Dan K. )

Posted By: Rhett
Following Leons lead I am in the process of setting up a website with some of my collection on it. Many of the cards are for sale at the right price, but please note that not everything is for sale. I am still in the process of creating the site, and it will likely be a work in progress for some time. I have listed cards in the "19th Century", "Tobacco", "Caramel" and "Misc. Prewar" sections as of this point, so feel free to take a look, and be sure to check it out again when I get a chance to add more stuff. If there is something you are very interested in email me an offer or we can discuss a price for the item. When I get some time I will list prices for some things I am looking to sell. Most items are accompanied by a scan of the front, but those that aren't are due to the fact that I haven't gotten around to scanning them yet. It has actually been pretty fun creating the site, I am only an ameteur at html so don't expect anything fancy, but I didn't use the pagebuilder...I didn't like the defaults they had available. Check out the cards, there are some neat items, like a partial WG7 Walter Mails Game Set, some of the cards in that set are interesting looking. Posted By: Rhett
I have added more items to my new website (including a new section with 1930's Gum cards), and due to numerous requests regarding individual card prices, I have started to list some prices with the cards (I will attempt to get pictures up as time permits). Those cards that say "Not for sale" are not for sale, but I am always open to proposed trades. Please, take a look, there are many nice tougher types on the site that could take a long time to track down again. Also check out my "Wants" that are listed on the site, I am always buying new stuff, so check back regularly, as I am going to try and keep this site current, as time permits.
Here is a link: http://www.geocities.com/rhettmatthew_37/prewar.html

Thanks,
-Rhett

It will actually really be up sometime in the next several days with all of the goodies I was talking about. The D304 is sold as well as the N172 but there will be more to come. Tbob- I might only have one dupe of an e94, and that's if I want to sell the only one without one of those nasty overprint thingy's on the back. It is a red Crawford....and is in limbo....otherwise there will be some neat stuff very soon........and once again I want to thank all of the folks who have been generous in offering support. Now I just need to mail this Brunners to the Netherlands for Mike....never done that before....I guess he'll "fly like an eagle"....would ya'll please quit with the songs ....ya got me going later

Posted By: FatBoy
As some of you may or may not be aware, I've been slowly getting my Turkey Red set graded by PSA and adding them to their set registry. It has always been my favorite set and I'm determined to have a complete and graded set. I have about 20 in my set that have tackholes (I'd like to upgrade these), I've gotten several back due to trimming and alterations, I'd like to upgrade any I have on the registry if I can. These things graded take up a lot of room, ya only got so much.

As a side, I plan on retiring in 5 years and at that time, I will slowly start to sell off my collection to supplement my income. No one in my family is interested in this stuff and I'm not gonna be buried with it. I've enjoyed collecting it, continue to enjoy collecting, but plan on enjoying the fruits of it too. I've been working on several sets over the years I've been collecting and have completed very few sets (T3s, T9s, T200s, N184s, getting close with my N2s), but I probably won't complete every set I collect and realize that. So....with that said, anything is possible for the right deal.

Most of you know what I collect, a lot of my cards are on the SGC registry. For now, I plan on keeping my N28 and N29 sets going, I will probably keep my N184 set for now, but I'm running out of hope with the N162 set (we can talk about my Andrews, Glasscock, Keefe and Kelly), my type collection cards are available for talking about, my albums, etc. Like I said, for the right card, I'm willing to talk about anything. Heres a link to my About Me page which shows a lot of my cards.

http://members.ebay.com/ws2/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=vwtdi

My thinking is in the initial thinking stages here, but I'm determined to complete this set graded and would probably wait forever for them to become available. I hope no one is offended, but I don't plan on answering emails unless my interest is piqued about a particular card. I'm suspecting I may get a few, could be wrong though too.

At this point, I'm looking for high end cards (and like I said, I have examples of all and would be willing to include my example in any trades). Heres a partial list I have here at work, but I know I need a couple more due to PSA sending them back:

T9s - Johnson, Cross, W Lewis, Attel, Marto, Langford, McGovern, T Murphy, Driscoll

T3s - Waddell, Krause, Konetchy, Murray, Bransfield, Smith, Merkle, Elberfeld, Bergen, Willis, Baker, Speaker, Bresnahan, Keeler, Stone, D Jones, Pfeister, Jordan, Fromme, Out at Third, Lennox, Hofman, Lord, Sallee, Hoblitzell, Raymond, Close Play at 2nd, Chief Meyers, Napping, Magee, Downey, Mcbride, Ames, Wilson, Burns.

Thanks for listening all, Keith

Posted By: hankron
I just finished a 50 page staple bound booklet called "Concise Guide to Press and Publishing Photographs." It's a small but essential illustrated field guide for those who collect or wish to collect sport or non-sport wirephotos, press photos, magazine photos, etc. It covers the basics and specifics of identification, dating, stamps, tags, negatives, historical background, production marks, later generation photos, etc. If you've never bought a single baseball wirephoto in your life, the guide will instruct you on how to identify that original Babe Ruth or Ty Cobb. Price is $15 shipped, which seems like a fair price when you buy your first Babe Ruth on eBay or an an antique store knowing it's an original. I'm also acutely proud that that this has to be the first ever book containing images of Babe Ruth, Fred Flinstone and Gia Carangi. If that's not worth the price of admission, I don't know what is.

Posted By: warshawlaw
I am pleased to offer the revised and expanded second edition of my book "America's Great Boxing Cards", a price guide, encyclopedia and checklist of American boxing cards from 1886-1966.

The first edition of the book drew rave reviews. Boxing Collectors News said that it was a reference book boxing collectors had to have in their libraries. It sold out completely. Rather than reprinting the first edition in response to recent requests to obtain the book, I decided to issue the second edition a few months early so everyone could have the great accumulation of additional data on significant sets that I had obtained since I completed the first edition.

The second edition picks up where the first edition stopped, with all of the data that made the first edition so useful plus a ton of new research. I added many sets of vintage boxing cards to the listings, created a new section devoted to W (strip) cards, and created vastly expanded checklists of rare and significant sets like the N174 Old Judge cards. I added hundreds of images to the book, including photographs of nearly every N174 Old Judge and T226 Red Sun, and all N162 and T227 Series of Champions boxers. The Exhibit section has been refined with the addition of more information, checklists and photographs of significant prewar series like the Heavyweights series, the Dempsey-Tunney fight series, the Table Of Comparisons series, and some very rare Hollywood-related cards of boxers that were uncatalogued until now.

Active collectors will find this book is a necessity due to the price updates. There have been dramatic changes in the prices of vintage boxing cards since the first edition of the book, and I have included them all (almost). You will find vastly expanded pricing reflecting actual results of Ebay sales, auctions and private sales; literally hundreds of new, up to date prices. Want to know what boxing cards now routinely bring in excess of $1,000 each at auction? What set hasn't been seen in years for sale in any forum? Which partial set drew a record price in excess of $20,000 at auction? Buy this book and you will find out. And I never make up prices based on extrapolations from other card sales, like so many price "guides" out there. In my view, extrapolating prices not only distorts the pricing, it misleads the collector into believing that every card is available in every grade when in fact many cards are worth purchasing in any grade.

Despite adding over 10% more pages to the book and so much more information, I have held the line on pricing at $40 per copy plus $3.85 for priority mail shipping. I expect to ship the book by December 15, 2004, earlier if the printer finishes it earlier. If you preorder the book and prepay by November 28, 2004, I will throw in a CD with hundreds of pictures of rare boxing cards that I did not have space to include in the book itself.

Please email me for payment instructions.
