But I am very sure the blue background Dimaggio is a fantasy pin, not vintage.
I would love to see more large photos of your collection. Please keep them coming. Posted By: Dan Bretta
Clint, not a bottom feeder to me. That Wichita pin is great...how difficult is that one? I only have a few pinbacks left as I'm streamlining my collection and getting rid of most everything that is not displayed (besides photos) or Nebraska related.

I have one left that I'll not get rid of and that's an 1896 Little Pinkies pin which has a little baby holding a ring bat. Not sure what happened to my scan of it as a bunch of my photos from photobucket have disappeared.

Posted By: Dan Bretta
Nope. No Athletics or Chiefs pins that I know of. The three lincoln pins I have are pre 1947 which would make them for the Lincoln Links which could have been either Western League or Nebraska State League.

At one time I contemplated collecting items from all the Western League teams from 1947-58, but most of it usually goes for high dollars and I figure I'm competing against guys like you and me who may have been looking for years for that certain item.

btw I think that Wichita pin is outstanding. I can only hope that something like that exists for the Lincoln club.

Posted By: Clint
Thanks Dan. With the popularity of pins and buttons I would think that there's one out there.

I went to the Wichita Historical museum a few years back and they had a pin from the 1910 baseball team. I about fell over when I seen it. They also had a mint Fan Taz dispenser as well as two or three lemon peel balls. If you have any historical societies in Nebraska check them out as many have baseball items. They might give you a heads up on what's out there.

I picked this one up on ebay a few years ago.

Posted By: Dan Bretta
I'm getting closer in finding the dates on my Lincoln pinbacks...they are from sometime between 1906-1918 as those are the years Lincoln played at Antelope park. Lincoln built a new park in 1922 "Landis Park" named for Judge Kenesaw Landis where they played until Sherman Field was built in 1947.

Artist Outcault's cartooning is noted as being the first successful running strip in a newspaper that produced income by it's inclusion - and a first of sorts as a "character" that was actively marketed on it's own. Outcault was also the artist for the well known Buster Brown and Tigue characters. Comes from a set of 155 or so with different themes. Posted By: Wesley
Hi Al, Those are some really great pins you have there. I only have a handful of pinbacks, but your Cy Young pin I won from REA is one of my favorites items in my entire collection.

I sent Young to PSA and it is now in a PSA 5 holder.

Posted By: Aaron M.
Al, love the Cubs pin and absolutely LOVE the Maris "60 in 61" pin! (email at aaron1050@aol.com if you are interested in selling either! )You've inspired me to take some photos and add to this thread. Pinbacks are my favorite niche within my vintage baseball memorabilia collection.

But before I do, does anyone have this 1912 Boston Red Sox World Series pin? I have been looking for a decent example for ages and will pay a mighty premium!

http://aaronsroom.blogspot.com/
Posted By: Wesley
Thanks for not running me up even further, Daniel. Here is a scan of Young today. PSA is not my first choice for cards, but the holders that PSA uses for pins are amazing.

Posted By: Clint
I just got this great pin in the mail today. Dan B. gave me the inside line on this baby and I was lucky enough to get it. The seller, Bert Wright, is a great guy who sells on ebay under Wrightstuff. Thanks again Dan for helping out. This is what collecting is about and I hope to return the favor soon. The pin is bigger than I thought as it measures 1-3/4".
