NBA playoffs

Any series you are particularly excited about? The first round is usually not all that great, but I think Golden State-Houston is very interesting. Vets with tons of playoff experience vs. the crazy athletic young up and comers.

bk400 04-18-2025 07:38 PM

I'm looking forward to Knicks - Pistons. Two physical teams that play defense. The Knicks have a throwback team, and I'm hoping they make a deep run.

BobbyStrawberry 04-18-2025 08:03 PM

Good call - that should be a good one too. I just don't think anybody gets past Boston or Cleveland in the East though.

Boom.

Let's go Knicks!!

mr_luck07 05-17-2025 05:47 AM

I know Knicks fans gotta be on Cloud 9. Never been so glad to be wrong about a prediction for a playoff series. I'm a Lakers fan so you can imagine I'm happy the Celtics aren't repeating.

BobbyStrawberry 05-18-2025 05:21 PM

I went 1-3 with my conference semifinal picks. OKC is the team to beat now.

Perhaps. But no one wants to play the Knicks. Let's Go Knicks!!

I've been 2 for 2 on my Knicks playoff predictions so far. You gotta believe!

Beercan collector 05-18-2025 08:18 PM

I’ll be rooting for the Thunder .
On a goofier note Someone should make a YouTube highlight video of the game
Showing nothing but the 62 missed three-pointers

bk400 05-21-2025 04:26 AM

Wow. OKC were bad, bad men last night.

Brent G. 05-21-2025 10:46 AM

Time for the Pacers to send the Knicks home for the summer once again.

It's Baseball Season! Doesn't matter at all to me.

I felt the same about the entire cast of 1993-00 Knicks, but man, it sure was great theater.

I'm stoked Spike Lee will be at The National this year -- I've got some stuff I've had for 30 years for him to sign. I'm hoping he'll be open to profane inscription.

Man I was just reading about this -- I'd never seen it or read about it before today: https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...es-east-finals

The Oakley/Mason vs. Davis Bros. was some serious shit.

That's really interesting. I didn't know it was Oakley's hard non-foul on Reggie that catalyzed the Davis signing.

Speaking of Oak, you know he won't do it because he's a douchebag, but James Dolan should bring Oakley back to the Garden and have him sitting with Spike Lee for Game 7.

bk400 05-21-2025 08:57 PM

Tyrese Halliburton, going with the choke sign...Prematurely.

Man, I hope the Knicks win in OT. It would be karma.

Brent G. 05-21-2025 09:19 PM

Reggie did it mid-4th then finished the deal.

Repeat.

I’ve never seen anything like the Pacers have done the last few weeks. The comeback stats are beyond belief.

bk400 05-22-2025 09:56 PM

Flag on the play for sharing that NY Post cover. Flag on the play!

The Knicks will have to eat s**t until they beat the Pacers. That's just how it is.

If I were the Knicks, I'd have Mitchell Robinson screen Haliburton high and hard early in the game. If his elbows come out and incidentally break Haliburton's nose, so be it. And there needs to be some tomahawk block attempts on his shooting hand. If his fingers get broken incidentally, so be it.

I hate Reggie Miller. Hate that guy.

Peter_Spaeth 05-22-2025 10:05 PM

Pacers Knicks series is irrelevant anyhow.

Trust me, I was saying the same about Brunson on Wednesday — just one Antonio Davis-like elbow to the chin to say, “This lane is closed.”

That's probably what they said about Brady and the 16-0 Patriots before they were introduced to Eli Manning.

The thing about the Helmet Catch play was that the Patriots missed multiple chances to sack Manning before he got off the throw. Agonizing.

For a guy who has done so much to get the Knicks to the ECF, blatantly grabbing the jersey on that late out-of-bounds play was a seriously foolish move. (And sealed the win for Indiana)

I’m taking the fam (4) to Game 3 tomorrow — $1,000 total for mid-level, a 100% markup from the previous round.

Note what I paid for this same game 31 years ago…

Pacers for sure peaking at the right time. Finals could be the ultimate small market teams clash.

carlsonjok 05-25-2025 07:23 AM

The Thunder really stunk it up last night. They have had shooting woes all playoffs, but always played with energy. Last night, they just looked tired and Minnesota was electric. I have to wonder if the 7 game slugfest with Denver is starting to take its toll. The only good thing about it is that I have tickets for Game 5 in OKC.

Brent G. 05-25-2025 10:42 PM

The East is apparently the Choke Job Series — Pacers led by 20, Brunson on the bench for long stretches, got rolled over in the 4th.

bk400 05-25-2025 11:15 PM

Hope you enjoyed the game anyway.

The Knicks are most dangerous when they are counted out. I wouldn't be surprised if Game 4 is another barn burner.

bk400 05-26-2025 05:34 AM

https://nypost.com/2025/05/26/sports...cks-in-game-3/

I love the Knicks team this year. Such men.

James Dolan should ban Reggie Miller so he can't be in the broadcast booth for game 5. Hate Reggie Miller.

And TNT should bring in Charles Oakley to sit in Reggie's seat for that game.

Beercan collector 05-26-2025 06:05 AM

ESPNs Over-the-top pro-Knicks agenda is enough to make me a root against them - Radio all day yesterday Oklahoma City and Indiana are boring towns - That NBA and their fans should not want them in the finals . I understand it’s a huge fan base But ESPN seem to live and die with the ups and downs of the Knicks .

It's just really hard to beat a good team three times in a row, history shows.

Brent G. 05-26-2025 08:16 AM

There were many times in that game where most teams would’ve rolled over and died — but they refused. Game 4 is enormous.

I think he is for Knicks fans. Even if his signature play so far was where he got away with a double dribble, and then bricked a two-pointer on which he got the world's luckiest bounce.

Brent G. 05-28-2025 05:22 AM

This rivalry isn’t going anywhere for a while. Maybe this will finally earn the Pacers more nationally televised games next season … but probably not.

Brent G. 05-28-2025 05:46 AM

Not sure if this is going on elsewhere, but here's the ticket inflation so far for Pacers home playoff games for one mid-level section from my personal experience:

• Game 1 vs. MIL: $97
• (No CLE data)
• Game 3 vs. NY: $250
• Game 6 vs. NY: $380

This is absurd. I've never seen a jump like that in-series. I assume the same seat will be $500 for Finals Game 3 and go up from there.

Long way to go until he earns that. I get your enthusiasm, but he's a very good player who is having a great playoffs. Not yet elite IMO.

Brent G. 05-28-2025 09:06 AM

It's very reminiscent of Reggie Miller when he busted out in the '94 playoffs. I'm still not sure if he was ever considered a "superstar." He just saved his best work for May-June.

Not sure Halliburton will ever take enough shots regularly to be on the best-of lists (41st in scoring this year).

Reggie is always in those top 75 of all time type lists I think. I would say he qualifies.

Loving Shai this playoffs. The question the last two years has been can JW and/or Chet step up enough to be an effective #2 scoring option. They both looked great in the Minny series.

Yeah, OKC looks very tough right now. SGA looks unstoppable over the course of a 48 minute game, and OKC defense is so old school and something to behold.

Will be interesting to see how they do against the Knicks in the Finals.

My wife and I have a quarter season package with the Thunder. Our seats are in the 200 level. Not down in 100 with all the moneyed swells, nor up in the upper level. I like them because they are close to the action, but also high enough up that you can actually see plays develop. For context, seats ran about $135 each in the regular season.

For the playoffs, we've gone to one game each series. But, I buy seats from the team rather than the resale market, which gets expensive. For the Denver series, we went to game 7 and tickets up in the 300s in the corner were about $150 each. For Minnesota, we went to game 5 and the same seats were $200 each. So, yesterday I logged into Ticketmaster when Finals tickets went on sale. Holy moly. Upper-level nosebleed seats directly behind the baskets were going for $600-$700 each from the team and $800 and up on resale. For chuckles I looked at floor level seats. All that was available was resale and some were going for as much as $11,000 each. I told my wife we got free seats in the Living Room section.

They have two players named Jalen (Jaylin) Williams. The one you are referring to is known as J-Dub and this season was an All Star, 3rd Team All NBA, and 2nd Team All Defense. He was fairly cold in the Denver series, but came on strong, as you note, against Minnesota. The other JW is known as J-Will and is a PF/small C off the bench.

My god. It does seem people in Indiana are getting gouged slightly worse. For additional context: $650 is what I pay per seat for my entire Colts season ticket.

The NBA -- it's FANtastic!

Small market finals. No LeBron, Luka, Giannis, Curry, Durant, Tatum, Jokic, Kawhi, AD, Wemby.

Like a GM who's happy to push accountability onto someone else. Thibodeau got the most one could out of that roster. After that clown show on the streets of NYC after the Celtics series, I thought they'd build a statue.

Some of the comments would lead me to incorrectly believe the Pacers have ever won an NBA Championship. Note: I’m a Jazz fan and they haven’t won one either.
