Nice cards, guys!
I'm gonna stretch the years of this "pre-war" forum a tad, and post this here. Grail piece for me (and my son, who collects with me now)! |
This beauty arrived today…

Thanks Leon! He's 10, and super knowledgable about the hobby, players, history, etc. It's really fun seeing him enjoying it so much. I'd like to take him to a Nat'l in the near future (and when we go, will be sure to say hi to you!)...Appreciate your kind words.
Guys- some killer pick ups so far. |

After struggling to land a nice T205 Cobb for quite some time, two back-to-back. Sometimes it is feast or famine.
|
Nice one Dean.
Congrats! |
Thanks Tony!

Very nice Dean!

Baseball Magazine m113 posters

Thank you to the ebay gods with helping me find these two new variations.
The Johnson was a surprise, I hadn't seen one with the Baseball Magazine copyright on the left side. The Scott I knew existed, so I'm happy to remove one from my "needed" list. |

Thanks Tony, Ed, and Sam. Building the E100 set is definitely a slow play. Congrats on the pick up Dean, Doug that WaJo image is "iconic" (to coin a flowery phrase) congrats on adding it to your already impressive collection. |

Here are a couple 1913-14 Sophomore Perfect Clothes trade cards. They are approximately 4 x 5, blank back. |
Very nice pickups so far this month, gentlemen.
I picked this up from Classic Auctions, and it made it safely across the border. Net54 advertising for the win: https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f0bff9224e.jpg This E105 companion piece from Love of the Game also arrived today: https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...eab123b7ab.jpg This came from Love of the Game as well. It is certainly not in my collecting focus, but I thought it was cool: https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...b19e395b2d.jpg |
Nice pick ups Daryl, especially the Mello Mint.

I’m super happy to finally make myself pull the trigger on a 1914 Cracker Jack and it happens to also be my favorite pose in the set and one of my all time favorite poses on any card ever made. Fun to see a HOFer sitting on his bat just like a little leaguer.
I’ll trade the little mouse chew spot on the right border for the nice coloring, reasonable centering, crease free and no writing. Great looking SGC 1 in my opinion. Enjoy the day, Bob |
T204 Ira Thomas Ramly

Excited to receive this Ira Thomas T204 Ramly from Love of the Game Auctions.
It replaces the one I traded away years ago. Makes the 12th Ramly catcher in my collection. Patrick |

1911 t212 obak thomas - victoria bees
1 Attachment(s)
This new pickup just completed my Victoria Bees team set.
I'm still deciding if I should continue to collect a new team. If I do I'll most likely pick the San Francisco Seals or Oakland Oaks. |

Brinker, Erickson, James, Jensen, Lewis, Scharnweber and Swain are in both years, and the same artwork is used for their 1910 and 1911 cards. Brian (of course the Seals and Oaks are great options as well, but as a warning you will have to fork out the big bucks for Buck Weaver to complete the 1911 Seals team set. For some reason he seems to be popular) |
Quote:
You're probably right the next team should be the Vancouver Beavers from the 1911 set. I was collecting the 1910 Vancouver Beavers but decided to focus on the 1911 because I liked the Victoria Bees which has Ten Million. As for the Seals I recently sold a Obak Buck Weaver to fund another purchase, now regretting it. I might consider buying another Weaver If one comes up for sale again. |
Kudos to you, Brad. The Victoria set is a nice bunch of players. Old Victoria baseball stuff doesn't turn up too often. I have yet to see a decent photo of the Bees' ballpark which is still in use but is mostly a modern day multi-use fustercluck with no ancient charisma whatsoever. For what it's worth imagine Ten Million roaming the outfield a century ago.
https://photos.imageevent.com/kawika...mode_crop.jpeg 1910 University of Washington, Ten Million front row, end right https://photos.imageevent.com/kawika...0UW%20RPPC.jpg 1915 Vic Bees featuring young Highpockets Kelly. He's the tall guy. https://photos.imageevent.com/kawika...ts%20Kelly.jpg My 1910-11 Vancouver Giants and 1911 Vic Bees can be seen in all their Obakian glory at the following link: https://imageevent.com/kawika_o_ka_p...toriaobaks?n=0 pw = N54 |

Thanks for the Kudos, appreciate it! I have to say your collection is very strong hopefully one day my set could be just as nice. I really like the Ten Million you own and your right the Victoria Bees cards don't come up very often. Just one thing, I think you made a mistake by saying the Vancouver "Giants" I'm pretty sure they where called the the Vancouver Beavers. The Giants was the Seattle team if I'm not mistaken. I believe the Portland Beavers had the same team name. |

Vancouver was the Beavers. Seattle was the Giants. The Vancouver Giants play in the Western Hockey League. Another senior moment. Being old is fun.
While we're on the subject here is a snapshot I took a decade ago of some of Dave Eskenazi's PCL items on display at the ballpark in Seattle. Hard to see in the photo but the bat is stamped "Ten Million" in a funky typefont. |
Wow a Ten Million game used bat, how cool is that!!

Now have all three of the catcher poses used in three E91A, E91B, and E91C sets. The poses in the E91A set actually resemble Roger Bresnahan, Johnny Kling, and Osee Schreckengost (Ossee Schrecongost.) Patrick |

Not baseball, but it was from Leland’s, so…..
J As an aside, I love that sports auctions are carrying more and more entertainment, historical, etc items. PS- Phil, I agree, that is a stunning Jennings. Congrats |

A few recent purchases. No rhyme or reason really...just cards that caught my eye where the prices were in my budget. There were plenty of nice type cards cards in recent auction that went for more than I wanted to pay.
|
Nothing too special, but I just added this one to my collection of hall of famers with some connection to the Reds. I only collect them if they are in a Reds uniform on the card, so some don't have any Reds cards. But Griffith hits that sweet spot as he played for the Reds in 1909 and managed them from 1909-1911, and lots of cards where made in that period. He is such a significant figure in the history of the major leagues, and I'm happy to add it to the PC.

todays mail brought these cards to my doorstep. Including the last 1935 National Chicle Football card I needed to complete my set! #32 Swede Johnson (Green Bay Packers).

Successful Trade
1 Attachment(s)
Thank you to Trent - ClementeFanOh - fellow board member - who worked out this successful trade with me. Trent is a fellow board member that is trustworthy to work with. Not a high dollar trade by any means, but one in which was fair and very satisfactory to both of us to fill needs/wants in our current collections.
Thanks Trent! Rob, just wanted to echo the amazement of others on your Cobb Green Background E98! |
