Bring Frickin' Joy Now!!!!!
1 Attachment(s)
There's been an ever-growing pestilent plague of nastiness going on in all sorts of Net54 threads lately, so it's time to fight back!!!!!
Grab and post pics of cards that show the players loving life and being incredibly joyful for being able to play the game they love so much!! Cards that define "HAPPINESS" and immediately make you grin from ear to ear!! Heck, if you prefer, just post cards that make YOU YOURSELF extremely joyful...and do it now to help turn the nasty tide around... Attachment 622202 |

The first cards that come to mind for this thread are the '53 Bowman Color Stan Musial and the '56 Topps Mickey Mantle, but I don't own either of those.
Seems like the further you go back in card issue, the tougher it is to find someone smiling. For example, how many T206's show the player smiling, even among the portraits? Not many. The Mick is thrilled to be here, gracing the Pre-War section with his presence. Side note: Am I the only one that thinks some of his best issues are not from Topps? |

I know its not baseball but............we adopted this sweet thing today. My son saw her on a rescue site and fell in love with her. We thought she was in the Philadelphia area as the site referenced. However, we were asked if we could wait for about a month because she was in South Korea! It is an International Rescue. Long story short, she arrived at JFK around noon today and they dropped her off at my house around 3:30.
We introduced our other three dogs one at a time and they all get along very nicely! In just a few hours we saw a change in her that was skiddish from us at first to sitting in our laps. I think we brought as much joy to her as she has to us. Bob Attachment 622233 Attachment 622234 |

A few Charlie Hollocher cards got posted on another thread and I made a comment about how good he might have been without the burden of mental illness. He made it until his mid-40s before he decided he couldn't take it anymore.
Here's a card documenting what seems to be one of his better days, hopefully during an extended period of better days. |

Lots of smiling faces in Wilson Franks. Maybe they got free hot dogs for being part of the set.

I'd smile too for my 1925 cards if I had driven in the winning run in the 12th inning of the 7th game of the most recent World Series to make WaJo the winning pitcher!

https://www.net54baseball.com/pictur...ictureid=27265 Oh, those aren't quite right... https://www.net54baseball.com/pictur...ictureid=23054 Well, the kid is happy but the players aren't. Strike two. https://www.net54baseball.com/pictur...ictureid=25399https://www.net54baseball.com/pictur...pictureid=6693 Ah, that's better. It's a little surprising how few cards I have scanned have players that look happy. Maybe calm and satisfied, but not happy. |

Barney Joy may not be smiling in this picture, but he was the first Hawaiian to play in pro ball, winning 17 and losing 21 for the San Francisco Seals in 1907. He played in the Honolulu League outside that year, and was the league's best batter and pitcher.

I just noticed that Gus is looking pretty laughtastic in his 1960 Topps card. He is even smiling in his batting pose photo. And not surprisingly, the Reds baseball mascot with a ball for a head and sporting a handlebar mustache appears pretty happy as well.
Joy meter is at 11 for this card. Brian |
