REA is live
Blown away by some of the prewar items being listed (grades/prices). I am sure this will be another success auction. 3900 items this time.
|
Soooo many items! There goes my afternoon...
|
oh boy I love that smell!!!!! oops...wrong thread!!!!

Get Ready for New Record Highs
|
Lot 629 amuses me just for the absurdity of 37 Tango Eggs Beschers in one lot.

Thanks for the heads up, can’t wait to look! My goal is always to win just one lot in these:) Trent King

Sensory overload
Great stuff Will be sitting on the sidelines watching |
Lots of exceptional items.
CC: Mile High |
Very strong on photos and memorabilia, which isn't the case in all of REA's auctions. Some amazing photos.

Cuban Negro league aguilitas set on REA, Oscar charleston, Pop LLoyd and more
awesome collection with high grades!!

Who’s got the record for placeholder bids? I’ve got 12 in, hoping to win one or two but not expecting anything more.
ETA: hoping to win the lot, not thinking my initial bids will hold up |
I put 107 bids in yesterday. Never has an early bid I put in for REA ever even made it to the final week.

I'm sure as we get down to the last few days of the auction I will zero in on a few lots that I will try to win. |
I sold my collection recently and consigned a few 19th century and early 1900s items to REA. A number already have bids, so I'm happy.
If any Net54 members are bidding on them, thanks! |
Rea
This auction is worth a second nod. The Roberto rookie is incredible; however,
the Ramly WaJo SGC 9 is otherworldly. Incredible!! Trent King |

The Johnson just sold in Mile High in December for $60k. (http://milehighcardco.com/1909_T204_...O8ag-qFBKKSISg)
At the time there was a thread or two discussing the "sheet cut" designation on it. |
Rea
Hi Ian (rugbymarine), hope all is well. That Ramly is up to $36k, and I agree
with your comment about it:) Trent King |
Amazing REA lineup. Argh, choices…do I bid on these, Leland’s, Mile High or save my money for the Strongsville show next week?
|
Rea
Jim- go for all of the :) It's so easy to spend everyone else's cash!

Work that calendar!! Put in some feeler bids on the auctions for pieces you might be interested in. Then go to Strongsville and see if there’s anything worth picking up. Since the auctions all close after the show, if you still have cash left, then circle back to the auctions. In the end, you’ll either blow it all on a few pieces that tickle your fancy, or you’ll strike out because everything exceeds what you’re willing to spend by thrice your limit. Mischief managed! |
I dont know about that bowman jackie…hoping those scratches are on the case…even so for that kinda $$$$ id want a new holder…and a cottage!

Now I just saw that the reserve is not met, so apparently I once again don't seem to know what the hell I'm talking about when it comes to these high-end cards. |

On the flip side it is even harder sitting these out |

Curious on the hidden reserve amount for the psa 9 55 Clemente.
My guess is 1 million. Current bid is 600,000. |
Quote:
My guess is that if the reserve is met prior to the last few days, then it won't be an issue. If we get to within a few days of the auction closing and the reserve still isn't met, then bidders will lose interest and stop bidding, and it will go unsold. |

But on the flip side that could potentially hurt some items with only so much money around at one time and also if same cards or similar come up in multiple auctions could split the money and bids and lower prices potentially on some cards Just curious Ryan are you donating to the needy collector addicts? Or providing :):)low interest loan? |

I know you are joking, but this is exactly what PWCC (and likely Goldin) does with cards in their vault. I think it’s a great business model for the lender if the LTV is low and interest rate is high; especially if you have control over the card and a platform to liquidate it. Probably not so good to be the borrower! That said, I could see where a person may responsibly want something like this short term - a must-have card comes up, you don’t have the funds, but you fully expect to have them in the not too distant future. |

For me I buy it if I have it or I pass and wait until I do even if it means I miss out. Slow, strategic and steady for me |
So many auctions. Funny, people look at 6-7 major auctions and see 100 things to bid on. I've gone through them all and there is 1 thing I really would love to have. Really really love to have. Really unique piece of memorabilia. And I'm not tellin . . . . . .

Going to be tough just sitting and watching |
I can't believe I've got a bid still leading after two whole days. Won't last much longer, I'm sure.
|
Love the auction, just amazing stuff.....BUT.......how is it possible that REA is still grouping Basketball, Football and Hockey into one category online? It makes browsing by sport SUPER frustrating and unless I'm missing something, there's not way around this.
Also, when moving from 'list' to 'detailed item view' a new browser page should open (as is with eBay) to enhance the searching experience. |

I got a catalog only once but I'm in Canada so that could be the problem.
My solution has been to put 'hockey' into the search description field but that relies on every item being described properly and, even so, I find the site often resets to the default search when I return. |
I was checking out the 1949 Robinson PSA 9 listing:
https://bid.robertedwardauctions.com...?itemid=138638 While still a great card, I am shocked that this got a 9 due to the amount of print scratches on this face (zoom in). At first I thought it was on the case, but I am pretty sure it is on the card. |

Another Net54 member alerted me to this REA listing of the 53 Robinson:
https://bid.robertedwardauctions.com...?itemid=139851 Front left border, is that a rubber band mark/paper loss? |
Robinson
That's a bad flaw to get a PSA 8! PSA used to be friendly towards minor stains on old cards. This is a good example of that.

Seems TPGs don’t always put a lot of emphasis on surface conditions.

Bid on a bunch with a few still going.
Ended up with one items. A 1911 Chicago American Giants post card with Pete Hill and Bruce Petway. Attachment 568215 |
I was humbled by this auction and reminded that I’m more poor than I thought!
Excited to see the pieces that are posted by board members. What an auction! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Was SO excited to win this Fenway panoramic photo. Surprised to have won for under $3K. This same photo sold in REA back in 2006 for over $7500. Not sure if they overpaid or I got a great deal but thrilled to add this display piece!

Never understood that, cause those flaws can be some of the biggest eye-appeal problems. |

I reached out to the seller to get some details. Here was his response: I believe I mentioned in the listing this was postmarked Aug 7, 1911--so possibly made right away? There was an article in the Fennimore Times years ago-- about the annual Fennimore Big Days--and mention of the baseball teams. I got this at a local estate sale. Just bought a box of postcards--don't know if I even noticed this one. Otherwise they had a dumpster coming to finish cleaning out the house. So, a nice rescue. |
