Your wins from LOTG auction last night/this morning?
1 Attachment(s)
Would love to see what members won in the Love if the Game auction last night… not sure there is another thread on this yet.
I had my first ever AH “win” adding this Mickey Cochran Delong that I have been looking for for quite awhile! Love to see what others won, your observations, etc. I have never met Al but he has responded to help me as an auction neophyte and I found the process last night to be great (uh oh… may be hooked now) My first win is below - I am VERY excited about this one! |
shut out...prices on ruth exhibits continue to rocket north. a few head scratchers as per usual lately.

I won the 1954 Wilson Franks Roy Campanella PSA 2 at a much better price than I thought.
Also was about to grab the 1953 Canadian Exhibits Ted Williams Red tint. Just missed the rare green tint though. |

I added the black croft Young to my run. Anyone have a T216 for sale or trade?

Happy to add these last night...
|
I chased 1 item until the very end, but tapped out and came up empty handed.
Great auction Al. |
I added nothing, again. Was chasing about three items and got beat on all.
My typical auction experience lately: Gee, should I bid $X on that? It’s a little high but I really want this item. Fast forward to sale price of 5 times what I was debating. Great auction, Al! |
only 1 card for me. One of the tougher to find SLers. inching closer to having the 48 card OMSL set. I was the underbidder on the lot of 9 SLers, had a few more I needed, but the price was just a touch too high for me

The flannels

I won these. Fortunately, those of us bidding on these, including me, put all of our bids in early enough so these lots could close "early" at 1:00 AM EST.
|
I had inital bids on the UNC BIG-Heads COBB....i bowed out early & was pretty much a spectator. But, WOWZERS!!! must of been a bidding war for it to end at 5700.
Just think what-if a Ruth come up? I seen the one on Ebay's stratosphere for 65K. I know a few members that might of needed a Cobb, hopefully someone here got it. |

I got the Butter Krust Cy Young, the Standard Biscuit Lefty Tyler and the Boston Store 3 card lot. Lefty Williams got a little too high for me. I would love to have gotten that great Briggs Meat Mays but somebody wanted it more.
|
Congrats to the OP, and to all. I was watching bidding late and saw those Standard Biscuits go up, up, and away. I thought about jumping in on them earlier but I would've been crushed. Glad to see a member got one! I noticed that a lot of the late bidding was on Exhibits, they continue to just explode in value!
I focused on one card that I really wanted, and was lucky enough to get it for what I consider a reasonable price, among a few other lots. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...0600c5cd_z.jpg |
Props to Al and his team on another great auction and congrats on your 1st AH win Jeff, great pick ups all around. I love Al's auctions, the material is so varied and interesting, you can spend $100 or $100,000.
For me it's always the same, preview the auction, put 20 cards on my watch list along with placeholder bids, over the next couple of weeks think about those 20 cards and why I want them in my collection and mentally rank them 1-20 from "if I could only pick one" to "meh, it'd be nice to have". Some expensive, some under a few hundred bucks. I also keep a few cards on that list to check if they're under market on auction night. On auction night it always comes down to a balance between my list and finances. Fortunately, and thanks to my consignments, I was able to hit items 1-4 on my list. Doesn't happen often. |
lot's of great Stuff. Looks like Jim and Steve were the big winners for Quantity and Quality
and Congrats Jeff on your first Auction House Pickep Congrats |

missed out on the Ruth Card/Cards I wanted but I was able to get this instead
|
Thanks, Chad. What a great Chief Bender you picked up. I noticed that card even though it wasn't on my list. Super sharp. Jeff, that Delong Cochrane is not a bad way to start your auction house pickups.

Goldin and not LOTG, but I won the Bruguera Ruth PSA 6. Felt it was a great price.

Picked up the e93 Cobb

I picked up these Conlon glass plate and acetate negatives.
I'm honestly not really sure exactly what either of them are but I like Dodgers stuff, and I like Conlon stuff, and they were cheap by my definition ($33 each), so what the hell. Doug |

Added a Ruth & Cobb
|
I'm having trouble copying pictures from the LOTG website. But I had a "premium" night. I picked up the M101-1 John McGraw, the W601 NL Managers and the W601 AL Managers.
I wish I could have picked up one of the Exhibit Jim Thorpes, but was outbid. |

Hey Mikey, that’s a beautiful Goudey Green Ruth |
I won the 1953 Canadian Exhibit red Hank Lowery which is one of two cards I need to complete the master set, and the first time I have seen this card available for sale. Usually it's the green tints that are the hardest to find, but the red Lowery is also tough. Unfortunately, with all the 1953 Canadian Exhibits in this auction, the other one I needed was not there so the search goes on.

Picked up the D304 Eddie Collins. Also, as a consignor was very happy. LOTG rocks.
|
Picked up 41 Play Ball Gehringer. My second card from the set. Sigh.
|
Great pickup Michael. Those Old Judge glass plate negatives are really historic pieces.
|
Won this Wilmer Fields Snap. I love the kicked up dirt and the maze of scaffolding in the background. Oh and It looks like there's a car on the outfield. Puerto Rican Ball seemed Kinda crazy haha.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4d506246bc.jpg

Congrats! :) I was hoping to snag the Goudey Ruth 144 PSA but it went a little higher than I wanted to spend with the two pinholes in it. |
I picked up a framed Harpers Woodcut of Ewing, a couple of '53 Canadian Exhibits (the first series is incredibly tough, congrats on almost finishing Jayshun), a '62 Salada set with almost all the variations, a '63 Fleer Clemente and a '71 Bazooka box with Clemente. Either finished or came close to finishing a few sets.
|
Thanks everyone
and it looks like the forum members did real well at this LOTG auction. Looking forward to seeing what everyone does with the next upcoming auctions. I will be watching from the sidelines |
I was also after the Collins Portrait…believe it or not, as an upgrade 😁
Glad it went to a board member! Congratulations! Bill Quote:

Haven't worked on my T207 set in a bit. This is my first Anonymous Factory 3 and card #66 for me.

Won the PSA 3 1948 World Series Game 5 Satchel Paige debut ticket stub and the lot of 1932 and 1933 Red Sox Harry Stovey season passes.
Stovey is a tough autograph and both passes are signed which I am pretty certain is his signature although I had a hard time finding exemplars but he passed in 1937 and these signatures are pretty shaky and look close to the few exemplars I found. Not home run items but pretty neat IMO for bargain prices. |

Great pickups everyone. I picked up a number of WS tickets for my 1930-1980 run.
|
I picked up the 1949 Bowman Satchell Paige and the 1964 Topps Stand-Up Mickey Mantle.
The big ticket items I have left in each set. Still have a few dozen to go in each. Probably went one bid higher than I originally intended to. (a familiar refrain) |

Was a fun auction, always interesting to see what people gravitate towards. Happy with my additions. The Exhibits will be for sale, the Greenberg Diamond Star is my 20th of his that I have.

Nice winnings shown by everyone so far!
Luckily, I was able to pick up a couple of cards for my White Sox type set. The V.O. Hammon overprint PC will go nicely with the regular one that I already have: https://www.collectorfocus.com/image...ous/81945/lotg And the 1929-30 red back Exhibit is a tougher upgrade to the plain one that I currently own: https://www.collectorfocus.com/image...ous/81946/lotg |
I won these two Exhibit lots and don't want everything in them
Hi Gang:
I won these two Exhibit lots, and only want some of the items from each. So if anyone wants anything from either or both lots PM me https://bid.loveofthegameauctions.co...e?itemid=28003 https://bid.loveofthegameauctions.co...e?itemid=28004 |

There were a lot of great items in the auction but I got priced out on most of them. |
I woke up and learned I was the underbidder on the N173 Kelly.
Still devastated... |

Nothing as amazing as some of the pick ups posted so far, but I was pleasantly surprised that my bid held up on these American Nut & Chocolate group of 16 mini pennants.

Nice pick up Andy, especially love the St. Louis Browns pennant.

Great wins all. Between recently closed REA and LOTG, and current Memory Lane and SCP, I'm amazed about how much great material has been made available recently.

Many have not seen in a while and others seems like they keep flipping every few auctions. Regardless it has been an entertaining but costly time |

or sellers are taking profit and many buyers are buying less often to get the card/grade they used to or they are buying lesser grades than what they used to because of the new norm of elevated prices. Most collectors I know are not selling their collection to buy more but slowing down their buying as the funds now vs 2 years ago is buying less. |
Other than a couple of individual cards that Barry Sloate sold for me back in the day, I consigned, for the first time, a group of lots with Al in the realization that there are any number of sets that I will never complete and will use my $ to focus on those I can. I was very happy with the results given that many of the cards were ungraded.
